L is a few days shy of 16 months and likes a variety of toys, but only for a short while at a time-- I go through and hide some of her toys every few days so I can pull them out a couple of weeks later and they're like new! She's really into stuff you can push (doll stroller/shopping cart/wagon), stuff you can ride on, fake food, taking things out of boxes/bags/etc and putting it back in (purse with fake makeup, blocks in a box, the container I keep her bows in). I'm not on bed rest, but I have been so exhausted I sometimes take a quick nap on the couch while she plays...BOOKS! Especially tab ones, animal ones, books that make noises. Yesterday I pulled out her Christmas Little People--nativity scene and train, and she is having a ball with those. Sometimes PBS helps us kill time...she doesn't have a long attention span for TV and I don't want to use it in place of parenting, but she loves commercial breaks between PBS shows and theme songs for whatever comes on next.

DS is 16 months - he really likes wooden blocks, any type of shape sorter, pulling CD's out of CD sleeves, trying to put caps onto things (so caps on tupperware, the tops back onto playdoh containers), trains and cars, reading books, and pushing around his walker (or sitting in his walker and making me push him).

Xander (16 months) loves blocks, Lego Duplos, balls (I swear, he could throw and chase balls all day), corn popper, and Playskool Poppin' Park Elephant. Plus he loves the containers from his purees - he likes taking the covers on and off! Oh, and my socks...

We're going through this as well, at 11.5 months. I WOH full time so I only have to entertain her for half an hour or so in the evenings and then at the weekends - but she gets seriously moody after about ten minutes!! Currently, E's favourite game is being chased around the living room, in a kind of musical-statues meets chase combo that she invented. It's very cute, hearing her shreik with laughter, but wears thin pretty quickly for all adults involved!!

I just have to say that from about 14-16 months, I had a really hard time finding things she was interested in. It does get easier. We just went out a lot (when it wasn't snowing). She seemed to like new experiences - the library, the bookstore, even the grocery store.

21 months old and she's really into babies and cooking/shopping. So we have a shopping cart, stroller, kitchen, play food, and she will play for a long time making us food/drinks. She always likes to color and read books. WE have The Little People princess castle but she's never really been into it. She's also super into swimming right now for outdoor activites and her slide, she will go up and down the slide 100x a day.

R is 15 months and lately is loving her Rocking Giraffe, this play vaccum someone gave us from their kids, water table, puzzles, FP corn popper (old school walking thing), FP Gumball machine, and she is starting to get into Little People. Really like the Snow White cottage. Mega blocks too!!!

and R eats chalk and crayons too. So annoying

Can she stack blocks yet? Also, my lo finially likes stuff like the bean sensory bin I just wrote about on the blog. Tupperware is another favorite...he will stack the bowls and then pull them all back apart 20 times while I cook. He really really really loves trucks. I know they are more of a "boy" toy in theory, but I think he really enjoys driving them around and if I had a girl I would get some for her too. He loves watching the wheels.

Anything that is NOT a toy! Find an interesting container that opens and closes (box with a lid, jar with a lid, anything!) and a pile of random objects to put in and out (rocks, beads, cotton balls, crayons, puzzle pieces, etc.) and he is entertained for quite a while!
Putting a little bit of water in a large container to splash around in works too. He's also going through a ball phase (learning to throw) and likes books.

My girl will be 14 months in a couple of days. She is bored out of her mind and so am I, thanks to being on partial bed rest. It's wayyyyyy too hot to be outside for more than an hour in the mornings. So, I need new entertainment ideas. She is over her Zany Zoo, music table, drum....basically everything we own. LOL. I tried finger painting the other day and chalk but, she eats it all and screams the entire time :bummed:
