I had a small duffel that had all of my clothes and necessities. We also had the diaper bag and I think DH may have had a bookbag. We also had the boppy and some pillows.

I did an expandable rolling duffle. It wasn't huge, but somehow, our stuff exploded and I couldn't be bothered to repack neatly.

A small suitcase sounds good then, now that I know that wouldn't be overload! I only live like 5 minutes from the hospital, it just feels so weird packing for a trip that's so close to the house! ha! DH probably won't even bring a bag, he'll come back home to take showers and stuff. I'll bring my diaper bag, and I think we'll be good to go!

That has everything for me, baby, and my husband.

ETA: Except the boppy...that's sitting on top of the bag.

i do photos on the postpartum floor, and i've seen TONS of suitcases. lots of moms pack a regular wheeled suitcase with both mom's and dad's stuff.

A carry-on suitcase. My husband brought a man bag for himself and I brought the baby bag. We were hobos.

So...I finished packing my hospital bag. It's a weekender bag, I travel with it a lot for overnight trips-usually, 1-2 days max. It's kind of full though even though I really only packed bare essentials! I don't really want to buy a new bag, but I feel kind of weird bringing my small suitcase with wheels too. I just need something a litttttle bigger!
