Wow, I never really thought about what we'll do after we get the green light. Baby isn't due until February, so it will be March or April before I need to be on anything.
We will want 2 or 3 more babies after this one though, and since I'm already 32, something long lasting probably isn't the best choice for us, and I doubt I'll remember the pill everyday. I guess I'd want to use the nuvaring since I only need to think of it a few times a month, or the depo shot. Do they still do that? I was on the pill before.

Before we were ttc we were doing FAM and using condoms on peak fertility days. After we have a baby we will go back to that. My body has rejected all forms of hormonal bc that I have tried.

After baby 1, we will use FAM and condoms. After baby 2, I'm going to try and convince DH to get a vasectomy because it's WAY less of a major and invasive surgery than having tubes tied is and after years of hormones, I refuse to go back on them (they made my migraines 100 times worse). I'd think more about an IUD, but both my sister and a good friend had horrible complications with them, so I'm not going that route.

Between babies I will use an IUD, probably Mirena. Once we are sure that we are done, likely DH will get a vasectomy.

After DS I did Mirena. I am not sure what I will do after this baby is born.... we haven't discussed it yet! I might go back to a pill form, I have to take meds every day anyways, so whats one more?!

I don't want to take birth control and I'm like Geeksinheels about the hormones in my body. Then the hubs hates condoms so we are just about out of ideas.

He did offer to get a vasectomy (which is reversible) I didn't impose, he wants to so I guess he's the boss of his body. We are done with 2! (babies)

Post-baby #1 the IUD was my BFF!!! Lol, loved it. It's so freeing not to take a damn pill every day... and with a baby around, who could remember? I also had very light to no periods on it. I had the Mirena one and it was covered by insurance besides a $50 copayment. at first I was nervous about the insertion procedure but got over it quick. After having a baby, that was seriously nothing.

No birth control. We're open to having another baby, so just going with the flow and letting nature take its course. :)

I'm not pregnant yet, but I've been charting my fertility I think I'll continue charting after baby to prevent pregnancy and then achieve pregnancy for our second. Barring any complications with our first pregnancy/baby I think we will want to try again not too long after.

Do not use the mini-pill if you are trying to avoid getting pregnant again (or at least be really careful if you are) — that's how I got pregnant just 3 months after having my first!

As for birth control after BebeDeux, I think that we'll probably go with barrier methods like the diaphragm and condoms, because I don't want to add any more hormones to my body and I am against using the IUD for personal and religious reasons.

I love doing the Creighton Method of NFP.. It was super easy and helped us avoid pregnancy and then get pregnant our first month actually trying. It also helped keep the lines of communication open between my husband and I since it's a team effort. I'm a little nervous about doing this all post pregnancy but I figure if we throw in some condom use for good measure we should be fine until we are ready for our next little one.

I'm pre-baby, and got a paragard (copper) IUD in January 2008. I have been totally happy with it and it would last another several years before having it removed and replaced. We'll probably have it removed sooner (when we decide to TTC), but given my experience I would definitely get another. They are not covered by insurance so I would probably not get one until we're sure we're done (which means finding some other good non-hormonal method--NFP perhaps?--between kids).

besides abstinence of course. ;-)

mr. bee and i don't plan on having any more children after baby #2. my mom even went so far as to tell me to get my tubes tied! while i'm not ready to take that drastic of a step, i have started thinking about birth control post baby.

i don't want to have to deal with remembering something like the pill, so i'm leaning towards getting an iud right now, which would last 5 years and i could have removed at any time.

what are your birth control plans post baby?
