My mom never packed our lunches, as far as I can remember I made them myself.

I plan on packing cute lunches for my LO, corny notes and all. :)

Mine were kind of boring. A sandwich- pb or jam or vegemite- and some fruit. I could order my lunch from the canteen once a week. In primary school I usually got meat pies. High school, a salad roll. Sometimes I got an iceblock or drink from the canteen.

I was kind of a brat when I was a kid- bringing your lunch was *not* cool-- so I never ate what my mom packed, so she started giving us $$ instead.

Looking back, she sent some good stuff... a PB&J sandwich (my favorite... with strawberry jelly NOT grape) a grab bag size of chips (cheetos!) a capri sun and usually a jello! I don't know why I was such a jerk about it!!

I'm hoping that bringing a bag lunch is cool when I have kids- so I can make cute little PB&J sandwiches for them, and send little notes and surprises for them!

Sandwich - peanut butter and jelly or turkey or egg salad, chips, fruit, homemade cookies. I was always SO jealous of friends who got hostess cupcakes for lunch! Oh, and a sissip box drink.

My dad used to pack my lunches. The food wasn't memorable, but he used to draw me pictures on my lunch bags (the brown paper ones). I still love thinking about those bags. He made a special one every day.

We just ate school lunches. On school trips, my mom would just make a sandwich and put in some chips. Eventually, I just packed my own.

My mom just packed regular lunches... a sandwich, fruit, chips of some kind, and something sweet for dessert. During the winter, she'd substitute soup or chefboyardee instead of a sandwich.

She didn't. My mom worked full time and cooked a big dinner every night. She was at work before we were even awake so she always told us that if we wanted something other than school lunch she would make sure the fridge was stocked for us and we could pack our own. We had 1/2 day kindergarten and didn't eat lunch at school so we didn't start packing until 1st grade. My dad was home in the mornings so he would help us when we were little.

Lunches were typically a sandwich, chips/crackers, fruit, some kind of snack (cookie, candy, etc.), and juice or water. As we got older the nutritional value definitely declined once we realized we could sneak soda in a non-clear bottle and eat junk.

It was usually a sandwich, fruit, chips and every once in awhile I woudl get the holy grail of lunches, the Lunchable. The pizza was my favorite! Didn't get them very often since they are not good for you, but I loved them!

My dad normally packed my lunches since he would be up making me breakfast also (since he had to leave for work about the same time I left for school). My dad used to pack me honey baked ham sandwiches on a croissant and some other stuff, but I only recall the delicious sandwiches. LOL!

Basics, mostly sandwiches & chips. Sometimes leftovers like just a chicken drumstick.

One time she packed me a leftover meatloaf sandwich that she made using this Christmas bread that was white, red & green and my friends thought that my bread was moldy since it was green!

This TOTALLY explains your awesome bento lunches!!!! :)

When I was in middle school, my parents used to pack me the SAME lunch every day... big thick turkey sandwich (really three times as much meat as bread), smartfood popcorn, a banana, and a can of sprite. All my friends were always so jealous that I got smartfood and sprite every day. They'd tease me: "you're so smart because you eat smartfood." My parents would sometimes try to pack ham instead but I preferred turkey. Every now and then we'd get roast beef as a treat.

I got a home packed lunch about 50% of the time, and the other 50% I got school lunch. Back then it was 90 cents. I absolutely loved hot lunch because my parents never cooked American food. My favorites were the bacon burger (they cooked the bacon bits right into the top of the burger! I only recently figured this out!) and turkey fricassee.

In high school I bought lunch almost every day. We had a regular cafeteria and also a fast food type place, where I got a burger or fried chicken sandwich and fries every day. Gosh, how was I so skinny???

@Mrs. Bee: YUM!!!!

I love my mom but her lunches were pretty ho-hum ;P The best thing she did was cut my apple into slices for me but wrap it in plastic wrap to puzzle it back together so it didn't get yellow :) That was before the pre sliced bags were around!! She also wrote little notes every once in awhile :)

Everyone used to tell me that my mom packed the best lunches. She knew that my friends liked to eat my lunch, so she would pack me twice as much. She would fry bread in butter for my peanut butter and sandwiches -- heart clogging goodness! She would freeze a bottle of water to keep my lunch cold. She would pack either a sandwich (ham and bologna was my fave), hamburger, or Korean food with a juice, a side dish (like potato salad) and a snack like apples/chips/etc.

I am definitely going to pack lunches for Charlie and Olive and am going to up my bento making skills!

What type of lunches did your mom pack for you? Are you going to pack lunches for your LO?
