We won't get another cat once this one dies (she was mine before we got married, and DH is not a cat person. I'm not enough of one to fight it.), but we'll definitely get more dogs throughout life. Actually, DH promised me, after all the crap we've been through, that if something happened to this baby/pregnancy he'd get me a pug asap. It was more of a joke than anything, but it made me smile. The only way to stop the allergy is to change my clothes and take a shower.</p> <p>With our cats, I did not have zero reaction, but I was playing with them constantly as kittens and they would sleep in our bed so I had a tremendous amount of contact with them. For the first few months, I had a very mild reaction once every week or two, but once I changed and showered I was fine. At this point I don't ever react to them, so I guess I also adjusted a bit from the exposure. I am not sure if I have better tolerance for other cats now.
