My kids are older, 3 and 5.5, so they've been fine to use our regular dishes and cups for awhile now. I was so excited the day that we tossed out the plastic stuff!

@Mamaof2: we keep our toddler plates and cups in a low cabinet too but have to lock it. Otherwise she takes it out and walks around wth it and I end up having to wash things that were never used.

We use a mish mosh of plates. I need some bigger bowls for her. Our regular ones are really big but she only has really small ones.

Usually the IKEA plastic stuff.

We have it all in 2 lower drawers - plates, bowls, cups, straws, silverware (that's from PBK, metal) and its just soooo nice that they can get it themselves.

If they used the real stuff it would climbing on the counter.

I like that they can be self sufficient w/o worry of anything breaking.

We do use real dishes at dinner time

Just regular melamine plates we have for cookouts. If it requires a bowl we supervise or use Tupperware. She has metal toddler cutlery.

We have gotten 3-4 gifts of toddler plates/bowls so we use those over and over. They are all different brands, shapes & sizes. I guess I like that we have a variety of serving shapes to choose from (plate, divided plate, bowl, shallow bowl, etc.) but none of them stack.

DD is one year old and still using her high chair tray or tiny diner mat when we're out. She was gifted some suction plate but food gets all over the place anyway so I stopped bothering with it!

They use Replay plates (didn't know til now what they were called!) They'll use them til they've grown out of their "throwing everything on the floor phase."

Dishes from IKEA and baby spoons until they can be trusted not to impale themselves, then regular silverware. Now at two and a half we are switching our son to regular dishes too.

DD1 uses our regular plates, bowls and utensils. We've done that as soon as she stopped throwing plates. But I got a killer deal ($5.44/3!) on Replay plates for DD2 so sometimes she uses that now that her sister is using them. ;)

DD2 is almost 16m and still flipping plates over when she's done. She's using a Boon suction plate and Replay plates.

We prefer not to spend $ on toddler specific serveware.

What kind of serve-ware does your LO use?
