But I'm pretty sure they're original to the house because the cords started just falling apart (like dry rot)</p> <p>In our living room, I sewed curtains that we keep closed all the time. the afternoon sun shines directly in and bakes anyone in that room, so we don't feel the need to open them often (the only time I do is if I want to watch a storm)</p> <p>We have mini blinds and a valance in the kitchen.
