I did ballet, tap dancing, pottery classes, drawing classes, piano, guitar, martial arts, soccer, swimming, and gymnastics. I pretty much did whatever my mom suggested.

I took swimming lessons, singing/acting, ballet, tap, jazz, clogging, gymnastics, and piano. Dance & piano were my main two activities that continued from early childhood to teenage years. I played softball a couple of years but didn't really enjoy it. My dad coached my t-ball team when I was very young so I remember that well (I was so proud for him to be our coach, lol). I played flute in the school band...and once I got to high school I became a cheerleader and we had to take gymnastics classes, so that finished out my teenage years. Oh I also was the accompanist (pianist) for our chorus class, and was in show choir.

I would love for my future LO to play an instrument and take dance since they were things that I loved. One thing that I always wanted to participate in as a child was musical theater but I lived in a small town where there wasn't really anything like that. I would love to get my LO into a children's theater association that combines acting, dance, and singing, because I feel that it builds so much confidence from a young age. However, those are just my dreams lol, I guess LO will have to decide for himself/herself! :)

Oh and my husband is a huge sports fanatic so of course he wants future LO to be involved in sports. Our kid would certainly be well-rounded if they do EVERYTHING their mom & dad want them to do. :P

Dance. Lots and lots of Dance. Until I broke my foot at 12 years old (as a result of being forced over and over again to turn out past my natural abilities). I still danced a little in later life but I never went on pointe and became a lot less involved at the point. Other things I did were: soccer, swim team, swim lessons, tennis team, tennis lessons, piano lessons, cornet lessons, we did kind of like a science club with 4 other kids and we would rotate each week to be at a different kid's house and the mom would teach a lesson, youth group at church, squash, and field hockey. That's all I remember at the moment. My parents were hard core into the extra curriculars.

I was a swimmer, dancer, and singer. I tried to do other athletics like soccer, cheerleading, and basketball, but they just weren't for me! My grandmother was an artist and pianist so I always had unofficial lessons from her!

I did some dance when I was little (tap, jazz, clogging). Also gymnastics until it got really expensive. One ballet class...hated it.

Piano lessons for a long time.

I played soccer forever and was in the band.

I remember taking a few ceramics and drawing classes at the local rec center.

I liked the variety I had. I had a hard time narrowing things down when I got to high school.

I did:
Athletic: Gymnastics, soccer, swimming, softball, ballet, tap, kuk sool won (Korean martial arts)

Educational: Sewing, cooking, choir... and I think I'm forgetting something

I'll probably do something similar w/ LO and see how she likes them, but I'm not going to push her into anything just because I enjoyed it.

I did gymnastics, tae kwon do, dance, swim team, twirling, basketball, tennis, and piano. I also was enrolled in Chinese school for 9 years.

I'd want to enroll our future kids in Chinese school because I have benefitted from it so much even though I absolutely despised going (guess my parents were right about me appreciating it later in life - don't you hate that?). I love the water so learning to swim would be up there, and I'd want them to be active so we'll try a variety of sports till they find the one they love. The hubby loves tennis so I'm sure we'll be doing lots of that.

We don't have major plans for LO. She has to have swim lessons because we're in Florida and surrounded by water. And I'd love for her to do ballet, but by that time she'll be able to make some decisions for herself.

I couldn't take any lessons since we couldn't afford them... but I was in rec soccer (just for fun), t-ball, etc. It was cheap and fun, and I learned about teamwork at least! :)

I'd love to put our boys in martial arts. If they're anything like DH (with ADD), they'll need to learn some disciplined sports from the beginning!

I took cooking, French, tap, jazz, ballet, gymnastics, baton, and piano. I was also on the community synchronized swimming team. And in high school I was on the cheering squad.

LO will probably do whatever he/she wants. Definitely swimming, because I think it's really important the he/she know how to swim.

Soccer, tap/ballet/tumbling, piano. Sewing, cake-decorating, and conservation in 4-H as a little kid, with horsemanship and veterinary science as a teen. Acting. I did flute and violin at school in 4th grade.

LO will do something like karate, a sport (for at least one year), and a musical instrument (again, for a year.) A girl will do dance of some form. I think DH wanted a son in something like kick-boxing or jujitsu in addition to karate. And I'd like my kids to be involved in 4-H (what units they do is up to them.)

I was in ballet as a kid, which I loathed. I was in basketball for a year in middle school. I also spent one summer in a Johns Hopkins CTY writing program. In high school I was in concert band, marching band, pep band, orchestra, chorus, concert choir, vocal ensemble, and the women's ensemble. I also went to a summer music camp for 6 years. Though I never took private lessons or learned how to play the piano or guitar.

I want my kids to find a sport they enjoy playing, and get private piano lessons on top of whatever music activities they do in school. I'd also encourage Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts for the earlier years along with kiddie sports. DH and I both took college-run courses while in public school, so I imagine we'll look for educational programs our kids would benefit from along that vein.

I took swim, tap, ballet, jazz, swing, sewing, drums, kick boxing, photography, and soccer. I didn't take any test prep courses. I volunteered at the JCC & a hospital. Oh and Latin club only because we didn't have to do anything & I thought it would make me look smart on college applications, :D I'm a hobby hopper, always have been always will be! I'm sure I left some out. I think it makes me well rounded:)

Once we have a LO, I'd like them to learn an instrument, to swim, a volunteer activity, and find a sport they like. Test prep classes only if they REALLY need it. I'd love it if we did martial arts as a family! DH would totally be down!

I took clogging from about 8-11, then dance (tap, ballet, etc.) from 13-15. I also took tennis lessons in middle school and played on the high school team.

Soccer was really big around here when I was a kid, but I had medical issues that resulted in surgeries when I was 5-7. After I was healthy again, my mom wouldn't let me play soccer because she said everyone would be "way ahead/more advanced" than me. So, that started the dancing.

ETA: Oh, I somehow forgot about piano. I took lessons for about 7 years. And I played clarinet in the middle school band.

I did classical ballet twice a week, gymnastics, and took French (to help with the classical ballet) lessons. I loved it (well.. until I was about 14). I met one of my best friends to this day at gymnastics.
I would love to put DS into martial arts when he's a toddler. DH thinks it's silly because neither one of us is into it, but I think it's cute and teaches them so much. DH plays hockey and teaches skating so he's hoping to get DS in skates as soon as he can walk steadily, haha

I took swim lessons, gymnastics, dance, softball, club volleyball/basketball, and track (not all at the same time.) I guess my parents really pushed the althetics, however this is very common for where we live. I LIVED for gymnastics growing up and loved going to my lesson, this was a passion of mine for many years.

Once I was older and in jr. high I joined clubs non-sports related and excelled at those, as well as cheerleading.

My main extra-curricular was dance. I started ballet and tap when I was 6 and kept dancing until my junior year in high school. I feel like I got plenty of academic exposure at school (I was in the gifted program) and we did lots of charitable work through church. I feel like it was a good balance. We had activities, but weren't over-programmed.

The most random class I took was the abacus! I also went to Korean school, took swim lessons, piano lessons, and then lots of education-related classes like sat prep.

I wish my parents pushed athletics more! My brother was in little league and taekwondo. I can't wait to enroll both Charlie and Olive in martial arts (my parents wouldn't let me take it because I was a girl). I'd like them to participate in an organized sport as well like soccer/baseball/etc. as well as take music lessons (an instrument of their choice) and korean school. And yup I'm going to make them take all kinds of test prep/education related classes as they get older.

What types of classes did you take? What will you make your LO take?
