We were at a wedding reception, and I knew his parents were going to be there. I ended up getting absolutely wasted drunk and his parents kept wondering who the sloppy girl was he was hanging out with and taking care of.</p> <p>I am so mortified that was their first impression of me. We had been dating about a month and they were really anxious to meet me, but I hadn't known DH that well when we started dating so I wanted to feel more comfortable with him before I met his folks. Well they kept begging DH to meet me, so I finally agreed. We met for brunch after church one Sunday and it was awful. They all just kind of watched me eat and I was totally self conscious the whole time.</p> <p>DH told me his mother loved me before she even met me because I wasn't Catholic. Oh dear.<br /> DH had dated a catholic a year before me and it didn't go over well... his mother was/is a big judgmental about beliefs different than hers. So she was just happy that I was of the same belief system. lol</p> <p>When DH met my parents, he was nervous as heck! We'd been dating 5 months, and I had to take him with me to visit my family - I was living half way across the country at the time. So he was stuck with them for a whole week. But they loved him from the moment they met him and my mom was sooo happy because she hated my previous boyfriend lol. I met his parents a few days later, on my birthday, and they were really nice too. They don't speak English and I don't speak Polish. My sister in law translated as best she could. I wanted his mom to meet me before we moved in together and DH couldn't take off from work so I went alone. She's great. </p> <p>I met my FIL a month later. </p> <p>DH met my parents the morning after we eloped. We were long distance from the beginning, so we only saw each other on scheduled weekends. On my second (!) trip down to see him, his parents showed up for the entire weekend.
