Pulled pork and chicken with buns, potato salad, baked beans, chips, fruit salad, and applesauce pouches for the little ones. Drinks were just bottled water and cans of lemonade.</p> <p>There was hot apple cider bar with whipped cream, caramel sauce, and cinnamon. Dessert was chocolate and vanilla cupcakes decorated like apples, and the favors were caramel apples. (The theme was "apple of my eye.")</p> <p>Most of the kids' birthday parties I have been to are not at lunchtime though and they just have snacks and desserts. We've done the following:</p> <p>-Summer BBQ with a lot of sausages and chicken on the grill. Plus many salads and sides</p> <p>- Taco bar with all of the fixings plus refried beans, rice, and corn casserole</p> <p>- Italian feast with 2 types of lasagna, baked ziti and other gluten free/dairy free pasta and sauce options. Plus garlic bread and salad</p> <p>- Baked potato and chili bar</p> <p>- brunch shower with mini crustless quiches, carved ham sandwiches on fresh biscuits, baked french toast, heart shaped bacon.</p> <p>- lunch shower with beef tenderloin sliced for sandwiches, spinach salad, sauteed green beans with bacon, and roasted potatoes</p> <p>Each of the parties also had random appetizers and I've started to make my own cakes and decorate with fondant. I love to cook and am a glutton for punishment so I tend to cater my own parties.
