@septca: my LO has the 4:30/5 wake up to feed and goes back to sleep til sometime between 7-8. Like you, I can never get back to sleep!! I was thinking of letting her cry/fuss it out then, but she's only 5 months. Had you just had enough at 9.5 months or did you think earlier was too young? I know she can do it because before she turned 4 months, she had slept straight through a few times.

Sorry to thread jack!

@mrsjyw: here's what mine would say: goes to bed at 7:15, is awake 0-3 times before 2 am, then awake again at 4, then 6, then between 7-7:30 she's up for the day. Naps 2x30 mins. Eats 3 meals of solid foods. Nurses 6x not including the night feeds. Ugh.

@heartonastring: we have been doing 3x, and she seems to eat a lot- although some days more than others. She eats exclusively finger foods, so sometimes she just plays around (ie throws it on the floor).
she is definitely nursing less (well, its consolidated into 2-3 feeds) now that she isn't in our bed. And yesterday she nursed a TON during the day, so I'm hoping maybe she's going to start transitioning away from night feeding on her own.

She just started last week being able to stand up in her crib, but she can't get back down, so that's probably not helping her ability to self soothe herself back to sleep!!!!!!

@yellowbird: That's awesome!!!

@heartonastring: We just made the bump to 3 meals about a week ago... maybe that will help? She's started eating a ton more too. I'm not quite ready to night wean if she still wants to eat... but I know she doesn't need to eat 2-3 times, that's what's frustrating. Once I could deal with.

@Silva: I hear you on the hours long wakeups...what the heck are those about?!

As for night weaning, K isn't night weaned yet and I'm hoping it will happen on its own, but I did see a MAJOR change (until it all unraveled last week...) when I bumped her solids up to 3x/day - not sure if you're already doing that.

@scg00387: she is still in our room, and I really believe we aren't going to have much luck until we move her....working on her bedroom but it won't be ready for a little longer. And I'm a little hesitant to move her, she has slept in my bed her whole life! A crib across the room already feels far away!

I've got no clue how to night wean. When I feed her at night my breasts are pretty full/engorged, and she empties them. I know she's eating a lot, and it seems cruel to just cut her off, if thats when she's still getting in a substantial amount of calories. I'm wishfully thinking that maybe now that she's in the crib and not nursing on and off all night long, things will start to space out more.

At 9 months, DD was (finally!) sleeping 7:30-4:30/5:00, nursing, then going back to sleep until 7:00/7:30. That one wake up was really wearing on me, though, because I was having a hard time falling back asleep. At 9.5 months, we night weaned. Took 3 nights, DD never really cried - she'd fuss/play/whine for about 10-15 minutes and then put herself back to sleep. After night 3, she slept 7:30-7:30.

A few weeks ago (at 11 months), she started edging her wake up earlier, so we moved her bedtime up. Now she sleeps 7:00-7:00 with no issues.

9 months was when he first STTN in his entire life. Sleep has been fine since them, 11-12 hours with wake ups only for teething or sickness.

We moved T to the crib on Sunday night after two weeks of HORRIBLE sleep (like, frequent wake ups, and wake ups that lasted 3 effing hours, and waking up at 6 instead of 7:30). I have tendon damage or a pinched nerve in my arm from sleeping with my arm above/under my head for co-sleeping. So we decided thats enough.

We are in debate about how many times she woke up last night- but I think I fed her at 10:00 and 4:00 and then pulled her into bed with me at 5:00.

I really hope it starts getting better. Night weaning seems so hard and freaks me out. I think I can talk my husband into waiting a little longer, but now that she is in the crib she wakes him up too- and he doesn't get to sleep in with her like I do.

9-10 months was crap, crap, crappity, crap for us. His general outlook on everything was fairly crummy too, I think he figured out that he didn't have to just go along with everything and had discovered a bit of independence. It passed and other than a few small speed bumps he has been pretty darn enjoyable since then.

9 month old sleep sucks. This week he has decided 4:30am is a great time to be up for the day. He was waking 3-4 times a week ago and as much as that sucked at least he was in bed 12 or so hours.

I'm hoping this is short lived and he starts sleeping longer/better.

In his defense he is teething and hitting a bunch of milestones, but this mama is tired.
