@Meltini: Yea, 4 month regression kind of rolled into 9 months for us. I think we got a 2 weeks break where he slept well and only woke up twice. I was like omg! let's put him back in his crib now, then bam! Trick me!!! Hello 9 month regression. sigh.

9 months . . . that was the first time (literally the first time) LO ever slept longer than 1.5 hours consecutively.

@Elderberrygin: I am so glad you said she went back to putting herself to sleep after, as I nurse to sleep for the third nap in a row...

This sleep regression sucks that's all. Silver lining- I hardly ever get snuggles like this these days.

WAIT WAIT WAIT! HOLD UP! There is a 9 month sleep regression? ::grumble grumble grumble:: I thought the next one was at 1 year. D is 8 months old and we are still trying to fix the damage caused by the 4 month regression!

Absolutely terrible. And then some.

He archs his back and can't find a comfy position even when we hold him (cradle, up right, you name it!) And when he wakes, he immediately sits up and cries! Poor thing!! He's 10 months old now, and still no end in sight yet. He barely sleeps and wakes up way too frequently. This momma got her first comment yesterday that I looked like crap. Lovely...

Meanwhile, naps seems to be okay, but of course, that's at daycare so not like I can nap when he naps. Sigh.

@Foodnerd81: Naps are virtually non-existent here now during the week. She refuses all daycare naps and most naps at my inlaws. Needless to say, she's on an as-soon-as-we-get-in-and-get-her-washed bedtime.

Ugh.... Now I won't complain too much about night sleep- she cries for 15-20 minutes falling asleep but mostly STTN- last night she woke up, cried fora minute, sat up, then went back to sleep on her own.

But the naps. Dear lord. Yesterday she ended up napping on the boob for the afternoon. This morning she just won't stop crying. Trying to nurse her to sleep and praying I can put her down so I get to shower and get dressed today.

Her first top tooth just came in and have her a lot of trouble and I think the second one is coming right behind it. Poor baby. And poor mommy.

Terrible. Sorry. It was awful for me. Seriously. Month 9 was just wake-up after wake-up. I thought for sure she'd end up sleeping in our bed forever and I wouldn't be able to break the bad habit. But I was a zombie from sleep deprivation. Month 10 was a life-saver.

It was like this:

http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/sleep-training-help-please

But the good news is, E emerged from that regression a much better sleeper. Then she started crawling and we had a few rough night and naps.... then we let her cry, like, once (it took hardly any time at all) and she has been sleeping through for the last few nights! Yippee!! I think she's ready to start sleeping better now!

For us it was month 10 and it was sucky.

He was just getting to standing up, and would get stuck and scream. He also had a hard time falling asleep on his own, so I would sit in the doorway of his room for a good hour until he fell asleep. He usually woke around 2:30am, and would not go back to sleep without co-sleeping for about a month.

I was just thinking to myself "is there a nine month sleep regression?" when I saw this! Guess I got my answer and glad we're not the only ones! We've been in sleeping hell for the last week.. He just cannot seem to fall asleep on his own anymore, cries so much more and wakes up so many times at night I've lost count. I try not to make him a bottle during the night because I've noticed that it doesn't help him fall asleep (or stay asleep) any better.. Every morning I think "tonight will be better".. Hahaha! I'm just hoping he goes back to his old routine of sttn soon! Hang in there ladies!!!

Awful. Just awful. And then it got a bit better around 11 months, and then he started sttn at 13 months. But 9 months was hard bc we had previously sleep trained so I thought we were in the clear, and at 9 months I felt like he "should" be sttn. Oh well.

I think we're going on about week 7 of hell. Yesterday she A) Went to bed without screaming for 2-3 hours first, B) Slept through the night, and C) woke up at 730 instead of 5. I thought for sure we were back on track... then it took her about 2 hours of screaming to go to bed last night and she was up at 5 this morning. :/

B hates her crib now. Before I could always put her into bed awake and she would be fine and fall asleep almost right away. Now as soon as you start walking towards her crib she starts screaming. I have no idea why. She has a lovey, she has her music thing, she's not too hot, the fan is on light for airflow.. I don't know what else to try. So good luck, we feel your pain

We had a horrible time too. With naps the first one usually went ok once he was tired enough, the second only happened in the stroller or on me. At night he went down just fine but would wake multiple times and would have to be rocked a little before going back to sleep. Then after his night feed he would not sleep on his own so we co-bedded for about 2weeks. After that it was as if nothing had ever happened.

We had a terrible time with the 9 month regression. The only thing I could do was nurse her down, and she hadn't been interested in nursing to sleep since she was a tiny newborn up until that point.

The good news is she went right back to putting herself to sleep and sleeping through once she was through it. It just sucked while we were in the middle of it.

@Mrs. Sunshine: we hardly had a 4 month regression. Her sleep was absolutely awful from months 2.5-3.5 -- like I cries in public bad -- then we sleep training just for falling asleep and she was fine at four months. There were a few bad nights but nothing compared to before.

She really isn't so so bad right now. I don't know if it's a regression or just teething. Once she is asleep she is ok it's just falling asleep.

I'm dying. That's how the 9 month regression is going :silly:
Napping while nursing is how this morning went. It took her 2 hours to fall asleep last night, and she was up to nurse a bunch. She's been skipping naps all over the place, and is being super clingy.

Sounds like we're dealing with exactly the same thing.

What was your experience like as far as the nine month sleep regression?

Amazingly, C started STTN right when she turned 9 months. She's been falling asleep in her own with minimal fussing for months already. Lately she's been having such a hard time falling asleep, has skipped a nap here and there, and just cries so much harder than before. It's so sad to listen to but hard to do anything for her since she has a harder time falling asleep with us in the room soothing her. She just got her third tooth in and I know that was hurting her too.

Right now I'm letting her nap on the boob, something she hasn't done in so long.

Once she does fall asleep she is fine- takes regular length naps (1-2 hours) and STTN. I just wish I could help her fall asleep easier.
