@Mrs. Goose: Yes he night trained himself right away, the same way but yes he started waking to go potty once a night. He was never a good sleeper so I don’t think it bothered us as much.

@travellingbee: amazing! I don’t know how I feel about being woken up in the middle of the night! Ha. Is that how the night training went with your first?

We made it to pants by day 4/5 because even though she requested them she peed in them on day 2 and 3 when we tried.

@Mrs. Goose: We also did naked from the waist down. That seems to have worked for both of my boys.

So we are on day three and he is in pants without underwear. One small PP accident today no poop yet and lots of PP in the potty. He woke up in the middle of the night screaming and we didn’t know what was going on but turns out he just had to P. So he actually even stayed dry all night. Also had a dry nap. I feel very encouraged

Week 3 has ended now 28 months. I think there were 2 or 3 pee accidents on day one and probably 10-20 pees in the potty, it was insane. That died down considerably. Occasionally there will be a pee accident from
Not getting to the toilet on time or not paying attention, but in the first few days we did totally naked from the waist down and it clicked really fast. Poop everyday and in the potty or beside it because she didn’t make it haha. But the poo accidents were done by day 3. Diapers at night time and none any other time because nap has been dropped which I guess is beneficial for this process. We opted to not use anything for going out in the car /stores and so far that has been working out well. Morning wake up the diaper is half as wet as it used to be I’d say and as soon as I take off the diaper she usually goes straight to the toilet and does a big pee so that’s encouraging.

I think we tried too early (almost 24 months) with DD1. There were a lot of accidents on day 1, and it was pretty stressful. By day 3 it was smooth sailing. DD2 got it right away on day 1 (almost 21 months; we had time off and she had been having terrible diaper rashes so we wanted to get rid of diapers ASAP). Now about 2 months later she’s been having more accidents but I’m hoping it’s because she has been sick and we were traveling. I do think personality makes a big difference and having an older sibling there helps.

@buttermilk: oh that is so nasty and would totally happen in our house too so good reminder. He did poop in the potty right after I posted this.
@Anagram: I was thinking of doing it over spring break next week, but he insisted on taking his diaper off last night to go potty and so it began. He really did great all day but I had to put a pull-up on him to go out to dinner and he has peed in it, but i’m encouraged that he is getting the idea so quickly

My 2nd kiddo was so easy to potty train! She had been copying older sister and peeing on the potty before baths and stuff for months, but I wasn't ready for what I thought would be 4-5 days stuck in the house to PT, so I kept putting it off. About 3 weeks ago, my oldest was sick on a Friday so I stayed home from work. My husband suggested that I take the "3 day weekend" to take off the diapers. So I did, expecting tons of accidents but she happily went in the potty all day long, even poop, with no problem and only had 1 accident in the evening when I forgot and got caught up in cooking dinner and then put her in the high chair. She peed right after dinner because by then she'd been about 2.5 hours without a potty break. She even woke up dry from her nap.

The next day, we went to a museum and she didn't have any accidents. That Sunday she just had one. She went on to daycare and had 1 accident each day (I think they were not putting her on the potty once an hour like I asked), but by that Wednesday they got her schedule and she hasn't had an accident since.

It's been crazy easy. She's been dry after naps every day. Maybe second kids are easier because they watch older sibs go all the time?

We potty trained my DD at 28 mos. First day went smoother than expected! It took her most of the morning to understand the pee pee feeling. She only had one accident and then peed on the potty from that point on. We set a timer every 15-20 mins and had her try to potty each time it went off. She pooped in the little potty that day. My husband was so proud and while they were celebrating in the moments after, my dog swooped in and snarfed down all the poop. Lol! Luckily that never happened again. It’s been pretty smooth sailing since! I didn’t push nap or bedtime training at all but she totally did it in her own.

DS2 starting potty training today and I wondered what other people's experiences were like since I only have my first to compare to. So far, no accidents, but he leaked a tiny dribble one time, and he has peed about 5 times in the potty but no poop. He napped in a pull up and it was dry when he woke up. We are doing this earlier than my first since he has expressed an interest and so far so good but I am expecting it to take longer since he is younger. He is 26 months.
