Hmmm around 8m and 12m she went through periods of 2-3 hr wakeups. But we have traveled and had transitions and had all the baby stuff so even though I would say my LO has this far been a good sleeper, it's kind of been up and down. We just moved so hopefully once she recovers from her cold and she gets used to her room and gets back on routine she will go back to sttn!

During my one year mat leave 7-9 months was his lowest point. Then I went back to work at 12.5 months and for the first couple of weeks LO realized he could maximize his mommy time by staying awake 3/4 of the night. I finally caved and did my own version of sleep training and it mostly worked.

Hands down the hardest was from 3-5 1/2 months. The child just never slept night or day. 11- 13 months was also tough because she was sleeping well ( finally!) but then started waking up between 4:15 and 4:45 in the morning and would be up for the day.

This 2-3 yr thing is scaring the hell out of me. The first 3 months for both were terrible and we had good newborns. With DD1, she went through a phase between 14 -20 months where she woke up almost every night moaning and or crying. We finally figured it was seperation issues.

Now if only LOs would sleep past 6 am...

Probably the first month, and then from 3.5-4.5 months. The 4 month regression may even have been worse then the newborn stage simply because we came into it with a bigger sleep deficit.

@locavore_mama: olive's sleep hasn't been that bad. charlie's was way worse from 2-3. that whole year was pretty hard with bedtime battles. but i think it was largely because he was napping too much at daycare (2 1/2 hours), and not getting enough exercise.

Wagon Jr... he's always been great so probably 0-4.5 months, when we sleep trained. He wakes up crying almost every night but it's been consistently happening, and he usually goes back to sleep on his own, so I cannot complain.

Lil Miss Wagon... either the first 4 months (BRUTAL... I thought I was going to die) or her latest regression at 19 months (again, BRUTAL... waking every hour at one point and needing us to calm her back down and sit outside her door til she fell back asleep).

Umm, all of the ages? I would say 7-8 months has been the worst so far. She was waking up 4 times/night and my sleep deprivation continued to build (and I WOH full-time). It was a really rough month. I'm hoping we're on an upswing.

@nana87: I think a lot of us forget ;) For me the newborn stage was absolutely the worst, followed closely but some crap that happened around 5 months when she decided to be awake for 2 hrs at a time in the MOTN every night and I was back at work.

LO started consistently STTN around 10 months and things have been glorious since then (she's almost a year).

@Cherrybee: He's never been a good sleeper, but at that age, they're more vocal about what they want, so the things that used to work, didn't.

The biggest thing was that we had several moves in that time and he refused to use the crib past age 20 months, so.....that may not be the case for your LO, so don't panic....yet!

4-6 months she wouldn't sleep by herself, and wouldn't unlatch. That was terrible. But from month 10 to 11ish stands out in my mind as worse, maybe because we weren't co sleeping anymore so I had to get up out of bed 4-8 times a night, and maybe because we had a brief period of good sleep right before it happened.

@nana87: Hugs. xx

This 9 month sleep regression is the worst so far! Learning to crawl + other developmental milestones + teething + being sick for the last two months (thank you daycare!) - it's just brutal and, like @shopaholic: said, you don't have any tools in your toolkit! DD hates being rocked, bouncing just wakes her up more, we don't night feed any more and, besides, milk no longer sends her to sleep - it's horrific!! Plus, in the newborn days, I was running on hormones and adrenaline, plus I didn't have work the next day!! (ooh, look at me, romanticizing the newborn stage!!)

My DD is only 16 months but so far it was worst her first 10 weeks of life until we sleep trained. Why is toddler sleep so bAd? I'm scared... Is it cuz they can escape so easily now and want to play?
