The truth is, we will buy those things if they don't. We strongly beleive in quality over quantity, so we have VERY few belongings but everything is very good quality. We don't want to change that philosophy with baby items. We intend to have several kids, and we want good stuff that will last through all of them. We didn't register for a crib because LO sleeps in our room, if he ends up needing a crib we'll just buy one later on, but he's fine for now. We didn't get most of our big-ticket items, but that was to be expected. But a lot of people will go in on items too. Like my two aunts and grandma went in on the baby bullet system for me, just like my MIL went in on the jogging stroller for me with my SILs. Plus, if you put it on the registry, you get the 10% completion discount, and on more expensive items, it's so worth it. I have a private amazon registry now, to keep track of things I research and find for later, and a lot of things are 200+.
