I would say pushing was the hardest with DD; I actually asked the nurse how much longer it was going to take because I was tired!

With DS, I would say it was the placenta delivery because I had to have it manually extracted. Basically, the doctor reached up and scraped my uterus with his fingers to get all of the placenta out. It hurt so bad, I asked if there was a doctor around with smaller hands!

The results of pushing for 2.5 hours (aka 'roids... tmi?) were the worst. Worst part of recovery for sure.

Pushing was such a relief! Definitely the labour when it felt like someone was slowly ripping my legs off. Also when they push on your stomach afterwards to get rid of the blood. And then the dreaded recovery was oh so painful and uncomfortable along with the baby blues... Ugh :( Why do we do this more than once? LOL

@cvbee: Yes! I dilated so quickly once I got to the hospital, I thought I would push a few times and be done. Instead, two hours later, they used the vacuum on me. Pushing was the worst part by far.

I had early labor for 5 nights where I'd have contractions throughout the night that would go away during the day. The last two nights were extremely painful and I got no sleep. I was finally induced on the 3rd day, had 16 hours of labor (with an epidural), and ended up with a c-section. When they were prepping me for the c-section, my epidural must have been turned off and I was screaming in pain for what seemed like forever. In the operating room I remember someone yelling at the anaesthesiologist "Jesus Christ can't you give her something?!"

Afterwards when they're pushing on your tummy was probably the most painful thing I've ever felt.

The dramatic part at the end where there is blood everywhere and they're pushing on my uterus and my feet are in the stirrups as I get stitched up. I could feel EVERY LAST STITCH (all 32 of them) and was crying for somebody to help me.

I think it was either the pushing (so much more exhausting than I thought it would be) or the placenta delivery. The doctor had a lot of trouble getting the placenta out so it felt like forever!

Active labor was the worst. Not only was it tiresome to push for 3 hours, but it was extremely frustrating dealing with the hospital staff. I ended up crying not because of the pain but due to the staff not being on hand to help me. I had two students in the room guiding me the entire time while nurses would pop in every now and then. The doctor (not mine or anyone in my doctor's office) appeared for the last 20 minutes.

I guess technically it was the active labor part, but specifically it was all her heart decelerations during it that was the worst. Pushing was intense, but went so quickly I didn't mind it.

Per capita, (i guess in terms of unhappiness per minute, or something like that), placenta delivery was the worst. I totally didn't expect it to hurt, and I thought I was all done and could finally relax for a minute, but then they started pushing on my stomach and it was excruciating!

Pushing for 3 hours! And this might be TMI, but I hadn't had a bowel movement that day, so I was really really concerned about pooping while pushing...haha! (somehow I didn't)

Pushing for 2 hours for me too.

I thought it was going to be like 15 minutes, since the rest of my labour was soooooo fast. Had I thought "this will probably take 2 hours" it might not have been so bad, but I started getting pretty frustrated. But my birthing team (nurses and DH and OB) were all really positive and kept me going.

I'm with @ Mrs. Jacks! The anticipation/timing contractions at home and obsessing over if/when to go to the hospital was the worst for me.

Puking before pushing (and right after delivery) wasn't much fun either though!

Does it seem weird if I say anticipation was by far the worst for me? I labored at home for a day and a half and I had myself so freaked out about how bad it might be. Aside from some really painful contractions (baby was OP), labor and delivery wasn't too bad for me.

As for physical stuff, my IV caused the most problems out of anything, ironically. I'll never let them put one in my wrist ever again!

With Charlie it was the labor fo shizzle. And with Olive it was the recovery. The stitches were worse than the labor with her though!
