With N, it was the 9 month sleep regression. We went through 18 months without a hitch - I was anticipating it and it just never happened.

Hope this passes for you soon!

@googly-eyes: not a bad idea... I was wondering if the separation anxiety might be the cause for this one too since he immediately stops crying the second we pick him up.

@mrskc: Not every kid hits every regression though. J had the 3-6m regression, a short regression due to moving and then this curren 18m. I don't think the 12m is as common. My doctor swore up and down J would hit a 9m and it would be the worst, but he totally skipped it.

@Lindsay05: hahaha sorry :-/ maybe you'll be a lucky one!

@lemondrop: thanks :) me too!! He's mostly been a great and consistent sleeper, I hope this ends soon.

9, definitely. Everything else was little blips at random times. Never had a 4m. Going on 11m now and it seems we may be headed toward another. Is there really one at 18 months? Seriously? Boooo...

What I do is I just put her in the pnp next to our bed. Since our sleep problems seem to be the result of separation anxiety it seems to work. (Last time I did this for three weeks to a month and eventually she just ended up sleeping through in her own crib again. I did last night, the first time since the last regression, and it was ok.)

Month 10 was absolutely miserable for us.

Other than 5 months, we haven't hit any major speed bumps, so I haven't really bought into the regressions. We have good nights and bad nights, but we just weaned and he has only recently started sttn. We gave him his Scout doll at bedtime at 12 months, and it had helped a lot. Knock on wood, but sleep got awesome around 18 months! Hopefully things get better for you guys soon!

What? There are more sleep regressions after they turn 1? Ughh...jk. But seriously, I hated all of them!

I probably just jinxed us but we haven't gone thru any major regressions. He didn't tease us with being a great sleeper at a newborn but he just naturally progressed to being a better and better sleeper. He hasn't cried at bedtime since maybe 5.5 months when we were on vacation. We definitely have our fair share of issues in other areas of toddler development though  .

The 3 month regression which hit at 3 months was hard - he went from one wakeup to waking every few hrs. It lasted probably 3 weeks until we swaddle weaned him and put him in his crib (from rock and play).

He hasn't had any real regressions since STTN around 7/8 months. Some blips here and there because of illness and our recent move, but generally he's pretty good. He cries a little before bed every night and has since probably 4 months when we loosely sleep trained, but that's just the kind of kid he is.

HUGS!

Oh that sounds rough! I think we just made it through the 9 month regression and that so far has been the worst! And OMG I didn't want to know there is another at 12 months and again at 18 months! I try not to think that far ahead.

the teething regression that i think we're in now? she didn't have any age-related regressions, but she's been having a tough time falling asleep the last two weeks. i'm hopeful a tooth will pop through soon and give me my non-whiny baby back!

J hit the 4 month regression a month early at 3 months and it lasted until we ultimately sleep trained him at 6 months. It was sooo hard because I was getting 3-4 hours of sleep a night, broken up, because of all his wake ups.

But he's going through an 18 mos regression right now (a month early) and it's the pits. It's been about 3 weeks. It's heartbreaking. I think this is the harder one because of his age - he is more aware and knows I'm just sitting out here while he cries. At least when he was 3-6 months he could sleep with us, or I could nurse him or rock him to sleep and he didn't cry at all - those three things were my magic tricks.

But I have no magic tricks at 18 months! He won't sleep with us, he won't rock to sleep, he weaned months ago, he doesn't take bottles. I'm at a loss. I don't know how to put him to sleep tear free!

What was the worst regression for your baby?
