@littlek: I thought it would be easier if i stuck around, but the daycare wants me to leave right away. I guess i'll have to start doing that. I guess i feel like i'm bad for just leaving her in an unfamiliar environment!

@autumnlove: I don't start work until the end of the month, so we're allowing 3 weeks of transition time! This week is just part-time (i pick her up after lunch), next week she'll nap there, and the last week i'll probably pick her up an hour after her nap.

I never did CIO so the first week of daycare was worse...even though it was a dry run and I was at home!

@Freckles: How does she do once you leave? Is she okay? Do you leave right away or do you stick around? I have heard it's easier if you leave quickly. It seems kinda mean to do that, but I guess it's easier on them. I'm not sure.. my LO is glad to see me leave so he can play with his BFF.

@winniebee: I actually started tearing up at the daycare because my LO was crying so loud and looked so miserable. I felt like the worst mama ever!

It seems like transitioning LOs to daycare is much easier when it's done earlier, rather than the 1 year mark when they're more likely to have separation anxiety. I actually think she would've been fine if i did it around the 4 month mark when there was no separation anxiety.

B started daycare at about 4 months and he had no issue with being left. He loves it there. CIO was rough.

CIO was harder for me because although DH and I agreed upon it I wasn't fully on board. DD was pretty good about daycare in the beginning and it only became a problem when she was around 18m. DS goes to a private sitter that is just him and his sister, so that wasn't hard at all because I know he'd be loved on all day long.

both were bad. but i think cio was worse for me. it took longer than the transition to daycare! and of course i have the benefit of hindsight now since charlie looooves daycare.

daycare was easy for olive since charlie was already there. and she also barely cried when night weaning/training so she was easy there too.

Poor mama!

We started LO in daycare at 5.5 months and he couldn't have cared less that he was with a bunch of strangers! Now, he loves it and in fact cried once when I picked him UP from daycare at the end of teh day! That said, it was hard on ME. I cried every day the first week of daycare.

We're super fortunate that we haven't had to do CIO at this point (9.5 months). He might wake up crying on occasion, but goes back to sleep pretty quickly.

It's LO's first week (she's almost 11 months old) and my heart breaks every time i drop her off and pick her up because she's crying at the top of her lungs. It was so bad that i told DH to drop her off yesterday to see if it would be better. I thought CIO was bad, but her cries at daycare are 10x worse!!
