We were in 1-2 hours of sleep in a block hell until Emma was 9 months. Now it's 2-3 at 10 months. She is an exceptionally bad sleeper/eater and has fairly serious apnea though, so no one is particularly surprised it hasn't really improved.

My LO seems to be on the same schedule as yours! His only "good" stretch is from 7-10:30 and I just can't go to sleep that early, so the longest stretch of sleep I ever get is 2 hours. I keep hoping it will resolve itself!

i also agree with @pastemoo - we go to bed at 9, when she does. That'll change eventually but for now it makes it much easier when I'm up at 4:30 trying to put her back to sleep. Then I have my coffee and do computer stuff, etc.

My LO is 12 almost 13 weeks. Here's what it looks like.

She goes to bed at 9. IF she wakes up, she'll wake up around 2:30 or 3, eat, then fall asleep until 4:30 or 5. We can usually put her back to sleep in her swing at this point, then she'll sleep till 7 or 7:30 (when I wake her up to go to daycare). On the weekend she'll still wake up around that time and have a bottle.

But for the last week, we stopped swaddling her and she's slept 9 pm to 6:30 am. SERIOUSLY WHOA. I hope this trend continues. We are waking her at 6:30 so she has time to have a bottle before daycare -- otherwise she might sleep even longer!

I don't have much advice either, I think it is the luck of the draw. At 3 months DS was still waking up every 2.5-3 hours around the clock. He did not STTN until he was just over 1 year. But since then, he has slept like a champion. All I can really say is good luck! Sleep deprivation is a terrible thing!

@maybebe your sleep/eat schedule is EXACTLY to the HOUR like my DS. If you figure out something that works, please let me know. :) I do hear though from my other mom friends that they all went through this too and it wasn't until around 6 months that their babes STTN. :(

@maybebaby: Go to sleep earlier. The morning is your free time.

My son's sleep was at is BEST at that time and got much worse for over 9 months. After he turned one I finally started getting some sleep.

My LO is 12 weeks. She has been an excellent night sleeper so far...sleeping up to a 10 hour stretches. I knew it was too good to be true though! Just this week we are having the worst time putting her down. She will not take a paci and if we don't swaddle she sucks on her fist/fingers and it causes her to gag. :(

My LO started doing really well at that age. A number of things changed so I'm not sure which did it, but we moved her to her own space in our room from in bed with us, she found her thumb, and accepted a pacifier instead of a boob at four am. She all of a sudden went from an eight and four hour stretch to twelve straight.
Hugs. He'll get it.

We have a nighttime routine with our 3.5 month old. She goes down by 8pm and I pump a bottle and my husband dream feeds her around 11pm. She usually sleeps until 6 or 7. I've tried breast feeding her at 11 but she wakes up then. If she wakes up when my husband feeds her we pat her butt, turn off the lights and turn up the white noise...she usually will babble until she goes back to sleep. She's been sucking on her fingers lately and I've thought about leaving a hand out but she loves to be swaddled still, so I think I'm going to see how much longer we can keep that going.

We've been insanely fortunate in the sleeping department. A started STTN around 6 weeks. With stretches from 9 to3am. Then she started doing 10 hours at a time. She is now 18 weeks and still sleeps 10hrs straight (normally).
She is a TERRIBLE napper. She is not consistent AT ALL. But, I just roll with it because seriously who is going to complain about a 4 1/2 month old sleeping 10hrs at night??

My only suggestion (because she put herself on the sleep schedule) is to allow cluster feeding at night before bed if your LO seems to want it. That's what A does. She will drink 8oz and instead of waiting 4 or 5 hours to eat again like normal she will want another full bottle if it's near bed time. I think she tops herself off. It's worked for us.

Hmmm. At 3 months my LO wasn't going to bed until 9:30 or 10, slept a 5-7 hour stretch, ate, and went back to sleep until around 8:30. I'm jealous of your early bedtime, but all of those wakeups totally suck. I have no advice, just hugs!!!!!

We topped our 3 month old off before bed and that always helped a lot. She slept like a rock star (one, maybe two wake ups a night, but usually she'd sleep 9-3, then 330-630 or so) but it went to shit at month 4.

@maybebaby: I would try the pacifier. It worked for Mrs Blue.
I am scared to try a dream feed still. R has decided to wake up multiple times a night again. I don't even think she is eating that much just wants the boob to fall back asleep. Exhausting with working.

Also maybe try the 1st wake up, having DH give him a bottle and you pump. Then you would have an idea on how much you are producing and how much he is eating.

@maybebaby: I think keep him going down at 7 and wake him up at ten and do a split feed between 10-11. Breaking his initial long strech should see you getting longer stretches in the AM.

@Smurfette: He is in this stage where he is a barracuda nurser and when he is done he is DONE. Like screams if I try to put him back to breast. I tried the dream feed once and he was up for several hours after--sadly was not truly a dream feed :(

I have not tried the paci yet--I should. I am scared to because I feel like maybe my milk supply is low in the evenings and that could be why he is waking so much.

Honestly between 3-4 months was worse for us sleep wise then when she was a newborn. She went through the 4 month sleep regression early. It was so bad.

Are you cluster feeding before bed? Could you try a dream feed right before you go to bed? Maybe then he could go for a little longer and you would get a good stretch? Have you tried just giving him the pacifier instead of feeding?

I don't have much advice.... we got lucky in that my LO STTN at 2 1/2 months. Right when we stopped swaddling she was able to find her thumb and sucking her thumb was a life saver for us. Naps were a different story.... she was an awful napper until 8 months. But at least I could sleep at night so I was somewhat rested.

Good luck!

DS is a pretty good napper and gets a nice "long" stretch in at the beginning of the night, but I am feeling like I will never feel normal again in the sleep dept. His evening sleep is like this: 7-12:30, 1:15-3:30, 5:15-6:30 7-8. So by the time I go to bed around 10/11 I am getting up so soon after and then every couple hours. I thought by now my 13+ lber would be giving us longer stretches.

Should we try to push his bedtime back? How? DS is breastfed with the occasional bottle of pumped milk...should I try tanking him up with a bottle of expressed milk before bed? Is he too young to drop one of those feeds? I want to do what is best for him, but right now I feel like a zombie momma and I could use a better routine :(
