Hearing my husband's excitement over how much hair she had & hearing him cry when I pushed her out. I also loved the moment she was immediately placed on my chest, she opened her eyes looked around the room and then looked right into my eyes before letting out her first cry. I'm so glad that moment was captured, I love looking at this picture over and over.

When I was absolute,y positively, 110% certain that I COULD NOT PUSH ANYMORE (he was crowning, even with an epi that shizz was painful), and DH said to me, "Baby, look! He's here!" and I looked down and our son was already half out of me -- and already crying lol. And then I was so stunned I forgot to keep pushing and the midwife reminded me we still had to get him ALL of the way out. Haha.

I pushed for 2 hours and 41 minutes, of which the last 15 were "you've got 15 minutes or we're getting our the vacuum." Right before my last push DH and I looked at each other with a "we're freaking excited/this is crazy/aahhhh" look. I've never seen him look so proud and excited as he was right before LO was born. It was awesome.

Both times it was the announcement of the baby's sex. With DD, the doctor forgot to announce and I had to ask if the baaby was a boy or a girl. But I'll never forget that moment when the nurse told us she was a girl and I looked at my husband and said, "We have a daughter!" :) With my son, I heard the doctor whisper to DH that he was a boy, and then DH announced loudly, "It's a boy!" Totally amazing, both times.

Making eye contact with her! She was so tiny but had the most humongous blue eyes and she was so stunned and her eyes were WIDE and she looked at me like "What the hell????" It took a min before she cried, but I think about that look on her face and those massive blue eyes every day:)

I was under general anesthesia during my birth - and am sad that I didn't get to experience that moment of seeing my little one enter the world (that being said, I had the most pain free labor ever since I was out for all of it!).

But my favorite part of the experience was seeing him in my arms and what he looked like! DH is Korean and I'm not going to lie... I kept google imaging pics of "half-asian babies" to get an idea of how cute he would be! Of course - he's even cuter than I expected! :)

I'd have to say all of it as well - it was an a,axing birth experience and I couldn't have asked for better! If I had to pick a favourite part though, it would be watching her come out through use of a mirror, and the moment DH said it's a girl (we were TG). The skin to skin right afterwards was also completely magical. Really, I loved it all and didn't even mind the stitches.... And judging by some of the comments here, I'm really glad they don't massage the uterus afterwards here - ouch!

@FarmWifeGina: Aw, thanks! To be honest, I think the realization of what the urge to push actually felt like killed it for me. I was expecting some magical realization that baby was coming and I needed to push now, not a I need to run to the bathroom right NOW type of feeling - ha! Why don't they tell you those things??

@MrsScallop: Don't feel bad, pushing was the ONLY part of my labors that felt anything close to magical. I am a growling, moaning momma grizzly while in labor, definitely not a singing, smiling, joking birth goddess, lol. Although, I am afterwards when I'm that amazing birth high.

I was induced with terrible back labor with no epidural so I was happy when the contractions stopped and she was on my chest doing skin to skin! After waiting 9 months to meet her it was better then I ever imagined.
Also a favourite part was when the midwife had looked and said "you're baby is rushing to arrive", got told to push so I pushed once and there she was. She was also content to just look around, she wasn't bothered about her world at all :) I loved the actual birth part, I just hated the actual labor!

Um is it bad that my first thought was that relaxing wave after the epidural was administered?

But seriously, probably a tie between the part where they told me they saw hair (I was more excited that he wasn't completely bald than the fact that the end was coming!) and when I realized my husband had transitioned from an "ew this is gross I'm not going to hold your legs, that's what nurses are for," to being totally enthralled by the labor process and amazed at the whole thing.

All of it! I love love loved my birth experience, and I wish I could do it over. I guess I especially loved when my OB said, "Look!" and I could see his head. It was a moment of anticipation right before he was born.

After she was placed on my chest, the nurse took a warm blanket and draped it over LO, DH and me, and we all huddled under there together for a moment.

I also really, really enjoyed the meal I had right after LO was born because I hadn't eaten in about 15 hours and was famished.

Pretty much everything after she was born. But two things really amazed me.
1) She calmed down and looked for me or DH when she heard our voices, but she cried if the nurses or dr were holding her and she couldn't hear us.
2) She was sooo obviously curious immediately. I expected a sleepy, disoriented baby, and she was very curious and very alert but calm and contented with me and DH.

Of the labor - when my water broke. I couldn't get over how cool it was. I kept exclaiming, even hours later, "remember when my water broke? That was awesome!"

Of the birth - not any part of it. It was hellacious. And they took him away, so I guess when I got him back and everybody was out of the room ;)

The relief I felt when she came out. We have a photo and I just have this face of OMG, it's over!

Least favorite was my OB massaging my stomach for the placenta and trying to get my uterus to contact. At least th contractions were for a reason with LO. After that I was just mad that there was more!
