Right now. 7 months. My normally sweet baby screams like a banshee, I think it's teething.

@stargal: advil helps a little bit! I knew it was teething b/c he would put stuff in his mouth and then start crying, which he never used to do.

@highwire: I did some reading on wonder week 5. Pretty interesting. Perhaps this was causing some of the fussiness. I can definitely see a huge change in her how alert she is (when awake, that is) over the past few days and she seems to be developing more of her own little personality. Her napping seems to be getting better, but she's still fussing during feeding and not sleeping worth a crap at night. Hope your week 5 goes better than mine!

My lo had reflux but we didn't know until she was older and it got a lot worse with age, probably 3 months. Meds helped a lot, I felt great when we finally did them because she finally got some relief. Also, keeping her upright, especially after eating helped a lot.

Um... I'd say 3-12? She was a very, very screamy newborn. At 3 months, it was like a switch flipped in her head. She's awesome now.

I agree that weeks 6-8 are the fussiest. My LO is almost 14 months and such an easy baby but I remember when she had her witching hour back then

Weeks 5-7 were his fussiest, ESP in the evenings. Now he really only gets fussy when he's tired (10.5 wks).

@TurtleDoves: Thank you! We are also dealing with some reflux issues but aren't doing any medication (yet). It's good to hear that you've seen improvement in your LO. The doc has said that it will get better as her system matures, but it's good to hear firsthand.

weeks 3-8?
At 3 weeks he started being insane..seriously.
We figured out he has terrible acid reflux and was gassier than usually because of an inability to digest dairy proteins.
So, I went on a dairy-free diet and got him some Zantac.
Within a few days he was a new kid. Not perfect---we still got fussy for a few hours int he day but not terrible. I still had to burp him a lot and I worried about leaving the house because I had no clue what kind of mood he'd be in at any given moment.
At week 7 he was remarkably better...8 was even better. 9 he was done being fussy except at bedtime because he was so tired.
Now at 11 weeks (tomorrow) he is a very good baby. We put him down to bed before he can get fussy and his digestive system has matured a ton.
Every week is SO drastically different than the one before. Babies develop so quickly that their behaviors are usually just phases. In time it all get better (that's been my experience).
My rec is to try and feed her before she get ferosiously hungry so that you're not dealing with the fussiness. And something that made a huge difference for us was music. I would turn his lullaby singing sheep on, nurse him, burp him and rock him to sleep all before the music ended, and it calmed him down tremendously. Oftentimes, just getting to them before they are *too* sleepy, or tired..or whatever is the key.

LO will be 6 weeks on Tuesday. Over the past week she has been fussier than usual, harder to feed, and fighting to go down to sleep/nap.

She acts like she wants to nurse every two hours, but fusses while feeding and sometimes refuses or stops after just a minute. She'll open her mouth, start to latch, and then almost gag and push away.

When tired, she'll cry and squirm on my chest but not want to stay asleep. And when awake, she has been hard to keep content without fussing.

Not sure if it's true, but I had heard that week 6 is often the peak of fussiness for some. What was your experience?

Oh, and I don't mean to complain this much about LO....she really is a decent baby :)
