What made them awesome was just having fun with friends and feeling like the center of something special. My favorite was a craft where each girl got an empty Quaker oatmeal container (the cylinder kind) and then we'd decorate them with frosting and sprinkles to look like a birthday cake. Then we had a make-your-own-sundae bar. We'd get to watch movies in our pajamas and stay up late talking, and then have waffles and danishes in the morning. For one of my birthdays my parents took me and my friends to "Boo at the Zoo" and we got to do all the normal fun stuff + go behind the scenes to see animals (which I got to do all the time growing up due to my dad, but it felt cool to do it with friends). Also I remember my mom decided we should have a screaming contest in the middle of the zoo. So picture a grown woman and a group of 8 year olds standing in a circle taking turns screaming as loud as they could. I can't wait to have these memories with my son and make his birthday special!!</p> <p>I had a lot of super great birthdays - it's hard to pick! for my 4th birthday, my grandma took me shopping; I wanted a barney birthday so she bought me this AWESOME barney outfit (tee shirt, shorts and shoes all had barney on it) and a barney balloon - when we got home, my parents had a party for me.<br /> My brother was born a week after my 3rd birthday and I was convinced he was MY birthday present. We've always remained the closest of all us siblings.</p> <p>And for my 15th, my girlfriends and I decided to camp out on our deck. They're my happiest childhood memories! One that sticks out was we invited all my friends for a regular party they thought was in the afternoon, then contacted their parents and we "kidnapped" them by driving around to their houses and waking them up at 6 am. Then we went back to my house and had breakfast and played games in our pajamas. My Godmother was the adult supervision at the party, while my parents went to some function. It was the same night at the Miss America pageant. I didn't like pizza growing up so my dad made us his awesome Spaghetti sauce- the girls who attended still comment about the spaghetti. After Miss America went off we played Miss America. We had judges and contestants. The girls dressed up in my costumes and we even had a talent part. Of course I won. Because my parents weren't there my God mom was right there helping us create the runway with our sleeping bags. The next day we were all exhausted so my parents had the easy part of the sleepover. Make pancakes and say good bye.
