I was really shy, coupled with awkward pre-puberty looks and awful glasses, not to mention I started there in 10th grade. High school was awful. College was awesome. I was shy and geeky growing up, and when I got to high school I blossomed and got contacts, grew my hair long, etc. But I was already known as a geek. I was a cheerleader one season for basketball (my parents made me quit) and I did "date" a really cute guy a year below me (no one believed it! I was so cool I refused to carry around a backpack or paper. I just borrowed what I needed off of others. I upped my cool factor in the sense that I got a lot of new older friends but I still wouldn't have said I was cool. Then they graduated and Soph/Junior year were a little less awesome, but then my own senior year was pretty great again. Was a starter on the volleyball team dating a football player ( for a year at that point). But, I still wasn't all that cool. I was religious and we didn't have a lot of money.
