I read an article by a man a year or so ago about how seeing his child come out of his wife's vag made him less sexually attracted to her. Ever since that, I have been really paranoid about this. I have already made DH promise he will NOT look down there at all. Mr. Bee, you sound like a very loving and mature husband! But honestly - do you not see "IT" differently now?

My hubs likes to tell me that he will be outside in the waiting room, smoking a cigar while I give birth, Mad Men style. Ha.

He'll come around when we actually get serious about TTC, but I'm not sure how I feel about him looking down there! I think he would be seriously traumatized. He's kind of scared of pregnant women ;)

My hubby said that it was the worst experience of his life. We believe in brutal honesty in our marriage…and after a very complicated back labor and delivery that included a c-section after 2.5 hours of pushing, incompetent and callus medical staff, so I can understand why he said that…on the flip side, it was also the most positively life-changing experience and he is completely head over heels in love with his little baby girl.

I think with our first my DH was just amazed and in so much awe.

With our second, it was all that and much more because this time I did it without an epidural... that definitely amplified things. it was a fast and very exciting labor. Even the staff in the room were ao amazed because natural deliveries happen at that hospital about 5% of the time.

My hubs was just so happy and proud. Granted, he was really tired too and went to sleep shortly after she was born. He was so excited that he actually cussed in front of our daughter before she was even 10 minutes old.

My sister was also in the room and said that it "was the most beautiful thing she'd ever seen," but also "the best birth control."

My husband was very much involved in the whole laboring process. He wasn't afraid to take a peek, and he pretty much saw everything that happened down there. He was very much in the moment, and we both cried when our LO arrived. I am thankful that I have such a wonderful, supportive husband.

Later I asked him if he can look at me down there in the same way since he saw how our son came into this world. He said that it was a one time special moment that he has stored away. It doesn't get in the way of intimacy. Phew.

He was so amazed by it. When DD was crowning he kept saying "holy crap! Honey, can you see this?!" Of course I couldn't see it! I still had a big belly in my way. Afterwards he couldn't believe I went through all that (it was an all natural, unmedicated birth) and he teases me that he won't be able to look at that area the same.

I thought I'd want him up by my head and not look but when it came time to push he was all about getting in on the action and held one of my legs and watched. It sounds weird even typing it now but he was fascinated and overwhelmed and just looked astonished for several minutes after birth. He said later he was really glad he got to see her be born and come into the world (which before labor I didn't really think I wanted him to watch).

Since I had such a crazy long labor (54 hours), poor DH was exhausted and super stressed by the time our son was born. Even as drugged as I was when I came out of surgery, I still remember his huge his smile was when he showed me pictures of the baby on his camera. He was so amazed at what we had made.

My husband was in awe - but he said it was really fast. One second he saw the top of the head, and the next second there was a baby! I think he was just amazed that his daughter had finally come!

I think he just mostly felt bad for me and that it must have been so exhausting and there wasn't all that much he could do to help. He also got an accidental look down there but didn't say too much about it. Traumatized! Haha.

My husband was super filled with love and awe for me when I pushed our 8 pound baby out. Literally for the first 24 hrs after our LO's birth, he was putty in my hands. hahA.

My #1 reaction after Olive was born was... holy cow, that's just... wow.

After I got over the astonishment, I was overcome with a deep love and gratitude for Mrs. Bee. Childbirth is so much work - not just the labor and delivery, but the whole pregnancy part too!

Then I noted the time on my iPhone, so that Mrs. Bee could blog about it (at her request)

My final reaction was: wow, this whole experience was way more intense than a c-section. For me, at least.

What was your SO's reaction to witnessing childbirth?
