LO's inability to breathe at birth. He was all blue, had to be intubated, and his apgar scores were horrible. Thankfully he made a quick comeback.

The worst was before she was born and they told me she had too much fluid in her brain. Nothing else since has been as serious or scary for me.

I've had several that I can think of but the biggest one was when my LO pooped SUPER BLACK poop at around 4 months. When I examined it, I saw red streaks. I researched online and of course I was sure he had stomach bleeding (note to self: don't always trust what the internet says!). So I panicked and called the emergency doctor's line at 2am. The nurse called me back and told me to go to the ER if she thought there was blood. I went in to the ER and they said he was fine (the black poop was just old poop and the red streaks were from a tiny hemmorhoid he had which ended up resolving on its own). I was a complete mess waiting in the emergency room while LO was being x-rayed and examined. I think I grew a couple of white hairs from that day.

Nothing toooo terrible, but once my babe was so sick his doctor thought he had typhoid. Like @volksgirl64 said, getting a pee sample from a baby is NOT EASY. (Poo too -- they never go when you want them to!!) I was going "pretend like I just opened your diaper! Pretend like you're lying on my side of the bed!" LOL

i fed DD a cut up PBJ sandwich when she was 13-months. about 10 minutes later she was getting really fussy and vomited all over the kitchen floor. she started getting rashes that were spreading up to her face. i immediately took her to urgent care where they gave her an epinephrine shot and oral steroids!!

nobody in our family has any peanut allergies so that was a SHOCK. good thing it wasn't more severe - her throat didn't close up or anything. i'd fed her jelly sandwiches with almond butter before with no issues. scary!!!!

DD had a bladder infection when she was about 7 months old. She gave no indications that anything was wrong, but after she woke up from her nap she had a fever. We checked it and got to 104F before we drove to Pediatric Urgent Care. They checked it and it was 106.1F!! It took a while before we figured out what it was (it's HARD to get a urine sample from a baby!) and we were terrified, but she was ultimately fine.
By far the worst scare we've ever had!

Baby sitter took LO out for a walk in his stroller. On their way back, they heard the nearby hs marching band playing and wanted to catch it. She was walking swiftly, the stroller front wheel got caught on a crack and her and the stroller flipped over. LO hit his head on the pavement. She immediately called me and then we went to the ER. He turned out to be okay and lucky that it was his forehead that got the impact. He had a bruised head for a couple weeks though.

So scary! Luckily we haven't had any of those yet. But now that she's grabbing everything and sticking it in her mouth, and also able to move around (even though she's not crawling, just scootching and rolling), it'll happen soon. Love that she's growing but hate the scary things that come with it!

One time I left out a bottle of Excedrin b/c I thought Charlie couldn't get it open, and then he opened it... and swallowed a pill!

Thankfully I was able to count the pills and figure out that he had only eaten one (it was a new bottle). Still, it was a terrifying time when I was on the phone with Poison Control!!
