For me, the easiest from your list were birth and not worrying about developmental delays. Breastfeeding also wasn't bad (I dealt with an annoying elimination diet for a long time but actually breastfeeding was easy). Newborn sleep was rough but toddler sleep has been great.

We've been pretty good. Breast feeding was a huuuuuuge issue, which I believe lead to sleep issues, because my son was hungry all the time :( once we sorted that all out, we had a pretty great life :)

I'm thankful LO didn't have colic. When I hear the stories, it sounds so terrifying. But, we're going through a rough patch right now with sleep, teething, and general fussiness, so it feels like the end of the world.

Honestly, E has been super easy these first 6 months. The only challenge was breastfeeding/pumping/mastitis but I had no qualms about switching to formula so I don't even really consider that a big thing either. She's been a great eater, great sleeper,, super happy, ahead of milestones, and my delivery recovery was a breeze. We've been lucky - hopefully #2 will be the same!

I didn't vote on anything after teething since DD is only 7.5 months so who knows if running, tantrums, etc will be a problem. I voted we had no trouble with: colic, STTN, eating solids, or teething pain.

The things we did have trouble with varied tremendously in how big a deal they were. PPD/PPA was horrible but I recovered extremely quickly after getting treatment, breastfeeding presented a series of challenges that varied in intensity but summed up to about 3 months of severely challenging struggles but since about 4 months it's been completely wonderful. I didn't check "naps" or "going to sleep independently" since we had an average amount of trouble with those as she was slowly adapting to a schedule from 2-4 months, but after we sleep trained both those things have been fabulous. Oh and I didn't feel like I could check "birth" solely because I had feelings of trauma afterward and couldn't think about my birth for weeks without crying, even though on the surface it was a perfect birth (2 hours, med-free, vaginal, no complications).

Only things that were 100% easy were colic (none at all, she was *such* an easy newborn, other than the latch issues), eating solids (she loves everything), and teething (one night she seemed to be in some pain and I gave her Tylenol and she went right to sleep, and the teeth popped out the next day).

Agreed with others on potty training being pretty easy - I was surprised that was not a category!

Our biggest issues were in the early days. Birth, breastfeeding, colic, PPA, infant sleep. She had horrible separation anxiety as an infant / young toddler but she is past that now.

Toddler sleep has been (knock on wood) mostly fine, and while we have our typical behavior issues, she has no health or developmental issues and generally this stage has been much easier and so fun! More than anything I am so grateful that she is healthy and happy.

Birth - I was induced and pushed for a while but both were uncomplicated vaginal births.

Colic/spit up/reflux - luckily never dealt with for either kid. I was so worried LO 2 would have been terrible but he was just as easy. I hardly ever used bibs or burp cloths.

Even the things we did deal with weren't miserable. Just phases we were going through that caused me concern or some googling but nothing that was extreme.

Sleep has been relatively great since sleep training. He really refused to cosleep or roomshare and hated swaddling and pacifiers so we never had those crutches to wean off. He had always had a bottle of formula a day so weaning to EFF at 9.5 months was a nonissue, as was nipple confusion. He had zero issues having bottles taken away and other than a slight delay in transitioning to WCM bc of the runs (we just tried a month later) he switched without really noticing the difference. He's had a handful of nights where teeth bothered him but nothing we couldn't just give him Advil and put him back down for. And no allergies or any long term health issues, thank God.

That said, he was an extremely awful newborn/infant and I DID have an issue with a lot on the list - PPA/PPD, colic, reflux, terrible sleeping, puking, low milk supply, major BFing pains, weight gain issues, hated eating or drinking in general, low appetite, slow to self feed, etc.

I hope LO2 is an easier baby, even though DS is now a happy, healthy, awesome toddler.

I have to say I feel very fortunate. With a 3 year old and 18 month old, I haven't had to deal with most on this list. Breastfeeding hurt and a I didn't like it. My boys don't excel at sleeping. They need me to fall asleep and don't require much. The baby blues hit hard, but I recognized it quickly and took meds to help. No colic, health issues, delays, allergies, etc. Potty training was even easy once DS1 was open to it. My mistake on that was trying to early. Once he got it, no accidents and it was a breeze.

Eta: I think a lot has to do with expectations. DS1 has become picky with eating and DS2 can throw some tamtrums. But I feel it's normal toddler behavior and don't consider them issues.

I can't speak to all of these yet, as my LO is only 3 months, and I'm sure we have plenty of challenges to come. But so far, we have been extremely lucky. The thought of having another eventually makes me nervous because we can't possibly get this lucky twice. Our major struggle so far is that kiddo will not nap unless she is being held, preferably by me.

Eating and allergies haven't been an issue here. Sure, he's a picky little stinker and doesn't like to sit and eat a meal at home, but he's still got a little baby chub to him, so I feel comfortable he's eating somewhere (daycare reports he eats seconds and sometimes thirds, I have to assure them that we do actually feed him at home!)

He also wasn't colicky.

Everything else though, I feel like has been a struggle.

Easy for us: birth, health (well we had major ear infections until tubes), no allergies, no delays, no food issues, weaning, potty training

Hard for us: breastfeeding was miserable until 8 weeks, sleep has always been an issue- naps, going to sleep, sttn.... All of it!!, colic/reflux, and terrible, horrible tantrums from our super willful toddler.

Our struggles have been mainly around sleep, though teething is really hard for her. She's a great eater, birth and recovery really weren't bad for me, breastfeeding hurt at first but really went very well overall. But she was colicky and didn't sleep or nap for a long time. She's ok now but still has her moments at 2.

I remind myself that at least she is happy and generally well behaved most of the day and our struggles are mostly at night now.

I'm so curious to see what this baby will be like!

I thought it was hard at the time, but in retrospect E was very easy. Zero problems at all with breastfeeding, separation anxiety, or colic. He wouldn't sleep for the first 6 months unless he was being held/snuggled, but after we transitioned him to the crib he did great (even the hardest night of CIO only lasted like 15 minutes). He used to have a great appetite (now it's a daycare appetite). He's very healthy, and the worst health problems we've had have been two rounds of double ear infections, which we only knew about because he started spiking super high (106) fevers that took us to the ER.

I am SO terrified for #2...

We've had our struggles, my husband thinks we have the most challenging child in the world but he doesn't read HelloBee and other parenting sites! I wouldn't call our son and easy baby but he's been exceptionally healthy and that's a blessing.

One thing I worried about that ended up being no big deal was transition away from bottles. I've heard it can be tough but we just gave him less and then finally none and it was like he didn't even notice.

We've had it pretty easy (hence some anxiety around trying for #2 - we can't get lucky twice, surely!) - breastfeeding was painful in the normal way but well established from the start, sleeping hasn't been too bad after some training, and so far no real issues with separation anxiety or shyness. The only real issue we've had has been weight gain and feeding, post-BF. Things are slowly getting better there too

Whenever I read posts on here, I'm struck by just how many of the common parenting challenges we have dealt with. Traumatic birth, breastfeeding problems, ppd, colic, terrible sleeper, terrible napper, terrible eater, low tolerance to teething pain, she's a "runner"....... but then I have to remind myself that we've been really lucky in other areas - no chronic health conditions, no allergies/intolerances, no issues with tantrums, no shyness/separation anxiety, no developmental delay concerns....

What wasn't an issue with your LO(s)?
