I'm in the pacific NW too, so cold isn't that much of a concern. I'd probably take her out highly bundled in just about any temperature - but it rarely gets below 30 here. Rain is more of a concern, but like someone else said, if you don't go out in the rain, you stay in for 6 months. We'll just get her good rain gear.

We go out pretty much every day. If it's snowing really hard (sometimes we get feet of snow in one day), we'll go to the indoors baby gym, instead. Otherwise, I just try to get outside during the nicest part of the day; in the winter, we pretty much go out only right around lunchtime or after afternoon nap.

@regberadaisy: when charlie was 1-2, i ventured out when there was tons of snow. i just found it so hard to stay home at the time. now it's much easier, but maybe it's me who gets more antsy than the kids!

I stay home only when it rains. We are out in every other weather condition, just at different times of the day depending on how warm or cold it is. We don't have humidity here, so summers do get hot, so we got out in the morning or early evening.

The coldest I went out with DS for a walk was around 28 degrees. I had him bundled up like crazy. It had been in the high teens, low twenties for a few weeks that winter and we HAD to get out once! I won't go out in pouring rain, thunder storms, above 90, or when it's windy.

I'm in the Pacific Northwest so I can't let a little rain deter me - otherwise, I'd be stuck indoors from October - May! ;) Fortunately, it doesn't ever get that cold here... I probably wouldn't go out for a walk if it dips below 40?

over 95... depends on the humidity. if it's really hot we'll go for a quick walk. it's hard to stay inside all day.

25 is too cold for me. but i'd venture out 30 and above.

Not sure what we will do for the cold...this summer we kept her in if the heat index was over 95. It will mostly be a moot point for the winter since it will be dark by the time we get home from work.

Normal winters in my area peak at around 5°F, but it can get as cold as -15°F! I've seen a lot of baby carriages out in normal winter temps, people will even argue that babies sleep better outside in the winter. I've bought some cozy baby gear to keep her toasty but umm ... I don't know if I'll be comfy doing that. I don't even like to be out there when it's that cold =/

The coldest I'll take her out for a walk ... maybe 14°F. For damn sure I won't take her out when it's colder than my freezer! As for when it's hot, I'll be wary when it hits 80°!

I've been trying to decide this too... My DS loves being outside on walks so I am a little sad that winter is coming because we won't be able to be outside as much. I think I will stick to what you said. I also work in child care and per our DPW standards our outdoor policy is under 25 (with wind chill) and over 90 (with heat index) we won't go outside. And, if it's raining or heavy snowing we don't go out either.

We don't walk if it's over 90, and not in the sun at all right now. It's just so miserable. I shouldn't have to worry about cold. And I'm trying to get better about it in general, but as a native Floridian, it's really hard to stop going out when it's thundering or after I see lightening. It's so hard not to ignore it, but I've had to stop myself several times from going out with him right before a bad storm.

If it's over 90, I keep her in. At least we did this summer. If it's below freezing, we would probably stay in, as well. There's only so much you can bundle!

Eta: I stay in if it's rainy/drizzly too. Yuck.

Now that I'm semi SAH I'm trying to take M and the pup out for a walk daily. Which got me thinking how cold can it get before its not safe for a baby. I read a couple sites that said 25 degree F.

For me I'm going to try and not go out if it dips below that. Or if it's raining but mist is OK. A little snow, OK.

And wind chill factor is a big consideration as well.
What about you?

P.S. around here the cold weather is fast approaching so I'm only concerned about that. But if heats still around you how hot before you stay in?
