Thanks everyone for sharing! Love hearing all the crazed and funny birthing tidbits. I thought it might be fun to get one of those cute labour gowns online but at $50 it doesn't really seem worth it. With Lo1 I wore the standard gown, so I suppose thats good enough for LO2

But will def be getting something cute to put on while in recovery and welcoming visitors!

I wore my own fuzzy robe from home for most of my labor. When things seemed to be getting close, they advised I might want the hospital gown on just so I didn't ruin my robe. But then I got in the tub anyway and I just stayed naked after that while I delivered. I could not have cared less at that point. :)

I labored and delivered in the shirt I showed up in, it was black and beige striped with ruched sides. Hospital gown when I was brought up to the recovery room and I wore it for the next 4 days, lol.

@ZombieBullfrogHoller: I feel the same way about hospital gowns-I f-ing hate them. As soon as I showered, I put on my PJs, and they were all "why do you want to wear your own clothes?!" Um, because I'm not sick?? If I had a reason to wear one, great. But I didn't, and I wanted to feel human!

Old Navy tank top and a sports bra. They told me that I "had to" wear a hospital gown, but I cannot stand things to be up around my neck. I flat out ignored them and changed into my own tank top as soon as the nurse left the room. Whatever. Someone made a comment when they came back in, but I also ignored that. I brought an open front sweater for while I was laboring but took it off later on, once I was hooked up to the IV for good.

Hospital gown. And I think I stayed in the same one for the next two days. It was probably covered in blood. Ugh. I'm sure it was only in the budget to give me one. Just like only one pair of mesh underwear 🙄

With DS, I wore a Pretty Pusher's gown. I had two nurses (very good cop, bad cop) and the "bad cop" nurse gave me such a hassle about it. They were very insistent that I wear the hospital gown. I'm pretty sure I threatened to leave at that point.

For DD (due on Saturday!) I bought a Gownie hospital gown that I plan to wear.

I hate hospital gowns. They give me the willies and, for me, wearing my own clothes made me feel like more of a person and much more comfortable. Creating my own environment in the hospital definitely helped me during labor.

Hospital gown with nothing underneath. After hours of pushing I ended up with a c section. I didn't mind the gown and ended up wearing one the whole time. It was convenient for trips to the bathroom and nursing.

With DS, hospital gown and hospital robes. Plus a sports bra. I brought my own things that I was ok getting bloody and gross, but in the end I liked the hospital gowns & robes more. So, this time around, I'm only packing a going home outfit for me in my bag, plus sports bras.

I bought a labor dress. I don't even remember if I was still wearing it when I delivered. I think I was? In hindsight a hospital gown would have been fine. My hospital had special L&D gowns with ties at the shoulder so you could easily open the top for breastfeeding. I wore one for most of my hospital stay and only put on cotton sweatpants the last day to go home.

I thought I would care more about this, but when the time came I really did not care what I was wearing.
