Since yesterday she's upped her game and is back and forth across the room all morning. So 1.5 months from first step to walking for this kid too.

My second started really walking on her first birthday. And it was a slow plod but she progressed really fast and safely over the course of days.

My first though, jeesh, she wanted to walk from the day she was born and didn't seem to let falling get in her way. She could take a few quick falling forward steps when she was 9 months, or sometimes backwards. I just tried to lay down foam mats because she just didn't care how many times she fell. it wasn't until 10 months that she got control though. But that didn't stop danger baby, she was just going to push the limits of what she could do and needed a spotter around. It took her till probably 18 months to show any acknowledgment of being cautious. Now she's 5 and decently cautious.

ODS took his first steps after his first birthday and shortly after was walking pretty well.

YDS is turning 1 this Sunday, and has been taking steps since turning 11 months. He takes up to 10 steps at a time without falling down but he's super wobbly!

DS1 walked at 10 months and was pretty steady right away. I hope DS2 doesn't walk so early!

LO1 started walking at 13 months. He took 3 steps one day, 6 steps a few days later, and then the next day he was fully walking, and pretty steady.

LO2 just started walking a few weeks ago. She's been taking steps since 10.5 months but only really started walking at 11.5 months. She is much less steady and falls constantly!

Cautious, sneaky, and unstable are how I would describe the first steps. I say sneaky because she liked to do it when no one was looking or she thought you weren't, it seemed! I'd see it out of the corner of my eye. The first time was just two or three steps. Then each day she took more and more. Last week we nicknamed her zombie baby because she was walking with her arms extended and a bit awkwardly, but this week she is a pro and getting pretty fast. It took 4 weeks for her to get steady and good, but each day was an improvement and usually the same of a few extra steps. She's turning one very soon. I couldn't imagine a 9 month old walking!

At about 11 months, lo took about 3 or 4 steps all the sudden, and then was basically walking within a few weeks of that; I don't remember exactly, but her birthday party was something like 4-5 weeks later and she was walking for that!

DS was a late walker (16 months adjusted) and I really think he waited til he could do it 100%! He walked 5-6 steps to me when I went to get him at daycare one day and within a week he was walking quite well without falling. Purely anecdotal, but I think early walkers likely take a bit more time for 'full' walking on their own.

She took her first steps at 10.5 months. It was 2 steps right away then she'd either stop or fall forward with control and catch herself on her hands. Within 2 weeks she was walking pretty well and now at 4 weeks out she is toddling all over the house.

@Mrs. Pickle: He started taking a step here and there about a month ago but never more. Then he got more focused on cruising and crawling and standing without holding on. Now the past few days he seems intent on trying to take steps. I'm thinking this is the beginning of his trying to walk but he still seems so wobbly!

Took a few weeks! I remember DD took her first steps around 11 months? Went from like 3 steps, to 5 steps, and by her first birthday she could walk but woulds till stumble/fall. I'd say she was close to 100% another 2-3 weeks after her 1st birthday.

B got up and started walking at 11.5 months. He wasn't very steady on his feet, but once he walked there was no going back. He knew how to stand up from a crawling position by then.

I'm not sure when E learned to walk, maybe 13 months but who knows with this kid! She's 14 months and can run if she wants to, but 99% if the time will scoot around on her bum or walk holding on to someone. She still doesn't know how to get up without pulling up on something... maybe that's what's holding her back.

It was a slow start. She took one wobbly step at 8 months, then a couple days later took two, then a couple days later took three in a row. It took a couple weeks from wobbly steps to walking (8.5 months). Then it was another week before she was pretty steady. At 9 months she was walking well.

Mine have all been early walkers and it has taken about 1.5 months from first steps to 100% steady confident walking.
DD3 took her first steps a month ago and is only now starting to do more than a couple here or there. Yesterday she crossed the living room. She's still very clumsy but I expect in a couple weeks she'll forget about crawling altogether.

My 9 month old has been taking one or two steps for the past few days. Yesterday he took 3 before falling down. But he looks so much less stable than my older LO looked when he started walking at 10.5 months. So I'm just curious, when your LO started walking, were they good walkers right away? Or did they start slow? What was it like for your LOs?
