Ear infections usually followed congestion. He didn't get fevers. He also wouldn't want to lay down. The pressure hurts their ears.

Inability to sleep at night after or during a runny nose is often the only symptoms for my kids. TV is the only way for us to get through the night. I would definitely take her in to be checked!

Nothing!!

We only know she has one because her ear drum bursts, and we see the drainage. She is getting tubes in two weeks.

Usually, my son would get an ear infection two weeks after having a cold. The sign would be a fever.

My son has only ever had one ear infection but when he did get one he did not have a fever. He was acting perfectly normal but as soon as he laid down to go to bed he would scream and sit right back up. I could calm him down pretty easily but as soon as his head hit the pillow he'd scream again. His doctor said this was because of how the fluid drained when his head laid flat. I would of never of known he had one if it wasn't for the odd screaming.

DS didn't get one until after 3, but complained of his ear hurting the first time. The second time, which happened a few months ago, he told me he couldn't breath (he could, just fine) and that something in his mouth hurt.

@StbHisMrs: Baby Einstein is literally the only thing that will soothe her when she's like this! Is that... normal?

My M doesn't have a fever at all.....

Thanks for weighing in!

@Rainbow Sprinkles: All three of mine love Baby Einstein

My one year old has been fighting bedtime, not screaming but pretty fussy.

When M has an ear infection she gets a high fever and tells me how badly her ears hurt. When my oldest would get them, they'd make him sick to his stomach.

@PurplePeony: I am glad you can commiserate, but not glad your LO is screaming before bed!

I haven't been able to get mine to sleep before midnight in 2 weeks. Once night it was as late as 3:45 am.

@erinpye: Not sure...but she screamed for the entire 2 hours we were getting our tree (J had to sit in the car) and now has been screaming since 6 pm (so over 4 hours). Not one single nap today. Just screaming, arching, flailing, refusing to sleep. Once we put Baby Einstein on, she's as happy as a clam. She doesn't want to nurse, eat, bounce, be held, nothing. But Baby Einstein fixes it.

I would feel bad if we were making her CIO if she was truly in pain, so I thought I would check about an ear infection....

@Rainbow Sprinkles: OMG, maybe it's something with the weather...or in the water...or who knows, but my 1-year-old has been doing the same thing for a couple weeks now. She has a cold but I'm pretty sure she doesn't have an ear infection. But she's been REFUSING to go to sleep. Usually, she's calm but sleepy, and as soon as we head toward the crib, she stiffens up and starts to cry immediately. She can even be asleep in my arms and as soon as she touches the crib mattress, she starts screaming. I know this isn't helpful, but I just wanted to say you're not alone!

When S had one, she had a fever, slept a super long nap (which was very unlike her), tilted her head to the side, and was pretty fussy. Do you think M has one?

A fever was his main symptom along with a decrease in appetite and not wanting to drink anything. Some babies will pull at there ears or rub them but mine never did.

Neither of my kids have either had an ear infection yet. Trying to figure out if there's something wrong that makes my 1-year old scream for hours before every single nap/bedtime or if she's just being willful.

What were your LO's symptoms if they had an ear infection?
