I finally got through to my doctor and they called in the antibiotics. So glad I don’t have to go in to be seen! I keep going from feelin like I have the flu to feeling ok. Grateful it’s a mild case. I feel so bad for everyone who had it really bad!

Mastitis hit me like a train. It was one of the worst feelings ever. Total flu and high fever. Lethargy, depression, pain - all of which will cause body aches and dizziness. So, my vote is that you have mastitis unless you have some other reason to think you have covid. Either way, you will definitely need antibiotics and the full course of it. Go to the doctor asap.

Sounds like mastitis. I would try dangle nursing- you on hands and knees over baby, positioned so that baby’s chin is on the red spot. Also pump in between feedings on that side. Last tip I have is to eat some avocado- for whatever reason that seems to help the blockage release. :goodluck: Hope you feel better soon!

One more vote for mastitis. When I had it I felt like I got hit by a truck but the actual breast part wasn’t that bad, at any point. It took 3 full days of antibiotics to break the fever and feel better. I hope you get the right meds soon, it’s awful!

You guys are making me feel so much better. No one we know has exhibited any COVID symptoms, and I rarely go out because of the baby but we have a mask mandate here and everyone wears one. The only time I leave a house without a mask is to walk, and whenever I see someone walking toward me one of us crosses the street or walks into someone’s yard so I feel like my risk of infection is really low.

I expect it’s still mastitis, especially if your breast is still red and clogged. I had a mastitis infection with #2 that the antibiotics didn’t quite clear up and I’d have random fever, lethargy, and chills every now and then until I figured out what was going on. At that point my breast looked/felt fine but the infection had lingered. All that to say, the symptoms can stay past your breast seeming fine and you should definitely get and finish a full course of antibiotics!

My mastitis symptoms felt like the worst flu I had ever had and took a few days to clear with ABX. Definitely follow up with your doc to get the correct ABX! Feel better.

The same antibiotic might not help your mastitis. I had to try two before the second one worked and it made a world of difference. I felt like I had the flu, fever, vomiting, aches, malaise. If you’re breast is red and warm to the touch it’s still infected. Call your doctor back because you do NOT want an abscess. , I think it’s much more likely that it’s mastitis than COVID. Good luck, this was one of the worst things I experienced as a mother.

I have a mild case of mastitis that was at its worst 3 days ago. That day my breast hurt so much and I couldn’t help crying out in pain every time I nursed on that breast. I did a lot of warm compresses and massage, plus Motrin. My doctor never called back and I’m still waiting to hear back, but my SIL gave me the leftovers of her antibiotics from when she had it (don’t know why she didn’t finish them) so I have started antibiotics.

I have a low grade fever that went away yesterday and returned today. I have a headache, body aches, and some dizziness. My back and neck are achy but that’s probably from poor posture while nursing and carrying the baby. My breast is still red in one spot and milk is stuck there, but it isn’t really painful to feed the baby anymore.

So now I am scared I could also have COVID. I feel like if my breast has improved everything else should too. Did anyone experience an improvement of milk flow and reduced pain while still having the other symptoms?
