@Mrs. Bee: I had really bad insomnia too, but thankfully that's getting better as well. I started on 5/15, since the 15th is an easy date to remember

I definitely miss sweets the most. I did make a batch of cashew butter, which is really yummy and helps curb the sugar cravings. Hang in there...only 23 more days left!

@Mrs. Bee: I'm on day 7 right now and overall, it's going pretty well. It does take more preparation to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner but I always feel full after a meal and don't feel deprived like I thought I would (even though chocolate anything sounds so good right now!)

Did you get headaches when you first started? I had horrible ones the first few days from my body getting used to having no sugars, so it's really nice that those are finally gone. I haven't weighed myself, even though it's super tempting!

@Madison43: @CupQuakeWalk:

yup we're using a meal delivery service called premade paleo and it does taste good! the food arrives all at once in freeze dried packages. i was going to wait until i finished whole30 to post about my results, but maybe i'll do a review of the service first.

we got an entire 30 days' worth, but now i realize that it's overkill. i could have easily supplemented with easy breakfasts and salads for lunch. factoring in the cost of pasture raised/organic meat here, plus shopping and cooking time, i think it's more cost effective for us to get the protein from the service though.

i'll write up a post about it this week!

We need a review of that service! I'm interested; but, if their food tastes like cardboard, it kind of defeats the purpose :(

@Mrs. Bee: wait - are you guys doing a meal delivery service? I totally missed that. Can i ask which one? Do you like the food ? How is the value? It would make my life so much easier if we could do this. I'm embarrassed to admit how much delivery we get.

@Mrs. Bee: glad it's going so well for you!! the premade meals look really delicious. it was easier for me to always keep defrosted protein in the fridge and center my meals on those, then figure out the rest. can't wait to read your blog post. i'll never be able to give up soy based things for good though but 30 days was doable... no soy sauce, gochujang, dengjang, etc etc for life would make me ugly cry!

@aegie: i don't really like tofu. you can use coconut aminos instead of soy sauce! for 1 month it's not that bad. i really wanted to kickstart fitness and weight loss, and i really like the idea behind the whole30 plan.

@Mrs. Pen: it definitely is. i was making 3 different meals many days before this because we all eat different things (mr. bee - paleo, me - korean, the kids...) so not cooking for us is HUGE.

the breakfasts are all pretty much the same which is fine with me. i like them. the vegetables are ok, but I'd rather make my own salad or roast my own veggies. having a mix of protein really helps.

once we finish this, we might just order some proteins to keep on hand when i don't have time to cook because grass-fed/organic is super expensive around here.... it's cheaper to use the service! we almost always roast or cook some veggies so we can eat those for dinner. breakfast will be eggs/smoothies and lunch will be salads. i'll cheat a little on weekends when we're out an about, but would like to maintain a paleo-ish lifestyle for the most part.

i just hate thinking about what to eat... it's such a chore for me, so i fall into the trap of eating junk. not having to think about it is such a stress relief with meal delivery!

@Mrs. Bee: fruit is my weakness. I love fruit. I have a huge sweet tooth, so as long as I have fruit, I can do it. Has it been easier for you having your meals basically ready made?

@Mrs. Bee: I've been doing it too and started about 5 days ago as well. The hardest thing has been no after dinner sweets. So instead I grab a handful of berries to curb the chocolate craving.

but I also was eating really healthy beforehand so I don't plan to see too much of a difference, we'll see though. I saw one of the rules was not weighing yourself during the 30 days, so I haven't tracked any weight loss.

here's an update on how it's been going so far!

we've completed 5 days and I've lost 3 pounds so far. I definitely have more energy! But the thing I miss most is alcohol. I have a glass or two to help me sleep, so I've been having a lot of trouble sleeping.

Other than that, I don't have any intense cravings. I do want sweets, but whole30 hasn't been as hard as I expected so far. Then again I'm still on the first week!

After we complete whole30, we will probably do it a couple times a year and eat mostly paleo. We were eating mostly paleo for a while, but got lax lately.

Anyway I plan on writing a blog post about my experience!

I haven't done Whole 30 but I used to be pretty strict paleo (now I just focus on eating clean). The biggest change I saw was that I no longer felt that mid-afternoon exhaustion.

If you're exhausted all the time you may want to do some research into adrenal fatigue. You may also want to make sure your sleep environment is optimal: at least eight hours of sleep, in a completely dark environment and no electronic devices for an hour before bed.

I had more energy, went from having terrible heartburn everyday to maybe once a week, and just felt healthier overall.

I did it in January and since then I've been eating mostly Paleo. The Whole30 really helped me get in the habit of eating to fuel my body, rather than eating b/c I was bored or needed a sugar fix. Cutting out sugar really curbed my sweet tooth - I still love a bit of chocolate, but I'm not constantly fixating on it. Also, everything tastes so much sweeter now!

It also gave me a better appreciation for fruits and veggies. I tried a lot of different veggies I would have never eaten before and found out I loved them. (hello brussel sprouts and parsnips!)

I only lost about 5 pounds, but I was lifting weights/working out so I think I gained some muscle at the same time. People told me I looked like I'd lost a lot more.

I think it depends...if you're going from a total crap diet, then 30 days is a serious rehaul! I just feel like shit when I eat crap, but I feel AWESOME when i eat clean. I've done whole 30 with my gym before, but it's been awhile. Now i'm about 90% clean anyways. Plus, you can still not lose weight if you overeat the good stuff.

We're going to give it a try because I have so little energy! We also started couch to 5k so hopefully with a diet and exercise change I can stop feeling so exhausted all the time.

I've seen so many amazing results on people I follow on instagram. Their eyes are brighter, skin is clearer, they have more energy and of course they lose weight too.
