absolutely meat. anything with a strong smell, really..

and sadly, my dog. omg his breath is usually pretty bad, but with pregnancy sense of smell...I felt so, so bad but I couldn't stand him too close to me. he also pants constantly, so it was really bad.

I'm in the process of developing a salad aversion, I think! Ordered one at lunch yesterday, and I could even rationalize that it tasted good and was a good salad, but about two bites in I thought I was going to throw up. Only had a few bites and had to change dinner plans because we had planned on making salads for dinner! So, yeah, I have a feeling there won't be any salads in my immediate future.

I hated all sweets. Everything tasted overwhelmingly sweet to me during my 1st & 2nd tri. We visited my mom during that time and my aunt bought all kinds of tarts and cakes and I couldn't have ANY of it :(

I also couldn't eat anything fried. It got me feeling sick after and I love fried foods, especially since there isn't a fried chicken joint in the whole country and since I was home, we'd pass by multiple chains and I couldn't have any :(

All I really wanted was veggies, especially ong choy or kangkong!

For the whole first trimester all I could keep down were frozen burritos (simple bean and cheese ones), frozen pizza, and butter noodles. Now the idea of all of this repulses me. I can't even handle the smell of pasta sauce, tomato sauce, etc. My husband and I used to constantly get pizza on Friday nights and I told him he can do it - but he has to keep it away from me.

First tri I consistently couldn't stand eggs, bananas, steak, and whole wheat pasta. Other times I would be eating something I normally like, and then halfway through decide it was grossing me out. Happened to me today - I was having a grilled chicken wrap with bacon and cheese and something about the chicken made me have to stop eating it. IDK if the guy's utensil's touched something I don't like, or what.

No food aversions and no morning sickness=eating all the foods...all the time...

@ms.janedoe: i'm pretty much the same way! just the heightened sense of smell (and apparently only things that DH eats, haha) are the things that get me. But i had no morning sickness, so the aversions really weren't that bad. I can still eat anything and everything for sure! (except goat cheese)

I was fortunate in not having too many aversions to food in the first tri (and hopefully they won't start in the 2nd or 3rd!) but a few food smells have really gotten me:

1) Yogurt. DH eats it every morning, and i have to take out the trash every day because i can STILL smell it at night! especially the flavored ones, UGH!

2) Beer. He opens a beer in the other room and the whole place smells like a day old frat party to me!

3) Goat cheese. i think this is a textural one. I used to have it in my salads every day, but can't stomach it anymore. sometimes i can have feta instead.

Pretty much everything besides peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (and depending on the trimester oranges, asparagus and watermelon).

Specifically, though: any kind of meat or poultry, eggs, coffee (during the first tri). DH first suspected I was pregnant when the smell of turkey made me gag and bacon made me vomit. I LOVE bacon, but I couldn't touch it for almost a year.

1st trimester --- everything! Well, except for cold cereal & milk.
1st & 2nd trimester --- the smell of any type of food cooking, the worst being onion or meat. I also really don't like tomato based anything (pasta sauce, chili, curry). And, like so many others I'm grossed out by meat. I can't handle pork or chicken on the bone. But I'm all for a burger or boring bland chicken breast.
I can't wait to have my old appetite back!

Orange! Ugh! Orange juice, oranges, orange flavouring - even (in fact especially) our chocolate orange scented hand-wash. Yuk!! I didn't get much nausea in the first tri but when I did get a wave of it, it was like a wave of orange came over me - I'd taste it in the back of my throat - even if I was nowhere near oranges (like on the train or something!).
