I've had so e victories too though. They use it when Grandpa's here, they use it in the car, they use it during meals. One day, DH asked," What is ba-pa? Can you point to ba-pa?" This thread is so fascinating to me! I still have to decipher stuff from my 27 mo all the time. They speak Spanish exclusively at daycare -- luckily I do, too! But I really have to listen closely to see if he is attempting a word or phrase in Spanish or English. The guessing game gets old!</p> <p>ETA: Here's one that took awhile to figure out. He kept saying "bis." Huh? He'd repeat over and over. Eventually we landed in the kitchen where he frantically pointed to a snack cup and then box on the top of the fridge. The box was Trader Joe's cheddar rockets -- their version of Goldfish crackers. He wanted the crackers. I asked daycare about it, and they said they often offer Goldfish as a snack in the afternoon. Hence, "bis" = "fish" = "Goldfish crackers" = "Trader Joe's cheddar rockets." For example, our cat's name is Padfoot, but he calls her "Ah-wah." Has for months. Since before he could identify that a cat says "Meow." The crazy thing is I think he actually could say Padfoot (or something close to it) but he sticks with Ah-wah. My mom thinks Padfoot told him that Ah-wah is her real name in Cat-speak. Harry Potter spoke Parseltongue...D speaks Cat-speak.
