@LCTBQE: Hahaha, I love that dress.

They're truly heinous. I want to design maternity clothes for professional women. I feel like I could make a killing. I'm 34 weeks and I've gained a solid 20 lbs and I'm sure I have more to go, so I sadly know it'll take me a bit to get back down to "fighting" weight. But I sure hope the nursing stories about it helping you lose the weight are true! I mostly just want to feel cute/sexy again.

I found a couple of less-ridiculous A-line dresses at Zara that were really inexpensive and I can still wear easily at 9 months pregnant, they are not maternity wear, just cut to be accommodating. and it was $$$$, but the most-worn stuff I got was Isabella Oliver plain jersey tees/dresses.

@mrsjd: yeah same, I miss my regular jeans and clothes *terribly*. I only hope I can fit back into them one day :meh:

Target actually has a bunch of what they are calling "soft shorts" which are pull-on, elastic waist and made out of rayon or cotton. I do not want to buy maternity shorts, so I've been living in three pairs of these, wearing them really low below the belly (@ 18 weeks). Honestly, they are like wearing pajamas so I'm a happy girl.

Loving these t-shirts from Target right now! http://www.target.com/p/maternity-striped-v-neck-tee-liz-lange-for-target/-/A-50622375

It's in the 100s (dry heat luckily) here this week so I feel ya! I actually hate shorts so I either wear jeans (casual Fridays at work), skirts, dresses or leggings. I've just been wearing my Lululemon or Zella leggings (non-maternity) with t-shirts out on the weekends. Dresses when I'm trying to look a little nicer ;-)

I broke down and bought some shirts today just to have some options - most of my shirts were men's size small which are sturdy but have no give in the belly area. My medium and large tanks have lasted me pretty well so far but I'm just tired of wearing the same old. They're starting to get meh, if you know what I mean.

I now have two nicer shirts - one navy and one white - that I can dress up or are just great for summer; two t shirts just to be comfy; and a tank top. Still desperately need shorts. I've never tried leggings - wouldn't they just make you hotter??

Target has a lot of fold over skirts right now (non maternity) that I loved while pregnant. That plus some maternity shorts and regular tanks and/or maternity tanks would be it for me. I didn't need true maternity tops until late third trimester. I lived in maxi dresses because they were easy to wear and grow in, plus they weren't maternity so they really hugged my bump. I found a lot of true maternity clothes had way too much material and made me really hot.

I just ordered a bunch of stuff from Jojo Maman Bebe. They are having a great sale ($15 sweater, $19 dress, $12 work blouse). I don't generally love their stuff but there was some cute stuff and I couldn't rationalize spending a lot.

I spent way too much on maternity wardrobes, because the majority of the time I wore maternity leggings (Athleta - the BEST), sandals, a tank/sports bra underneath a flowy sleeveless dress/tunic on top (and an open long cardigan if I was in/out of A/C). I hate shorts so I was fine with the leggings. And the leggings carried me through all seasons.

Honestly - I bought a ton of LLR thinking I was going to wear the maxi skirts a lot, and they are nice if you like maxi skirts (and are great for tall ladies!), but I realized I'm just not a maxi skirt person. I sweat and am awkward walking in them. So, not for me. They do basically fit no matter what size you are - I got mediums and am 5'10", the skirts fit perfectly fine when I was 215 lbs 9 month pregnant and fit now at 165 lbs 1 year out.

Maternity clothes are the worst. I have seriously bought less than 8 items. I like fitted clothing and I work in a formal office setting so it's just hard! I luckily have made some of my non maternity tops last through 34 weeks. That said, my best purchase has been a nice wrap dress from A Pea in a Pod.

I am 36w and I am loving these tees - http://www.target.com/p/women-s-ultimate-vee-tee-merona/-/A-50371086. They're $9 from Target and come in solids and stripes. They are non-maternity but super duper stretchy and fit me right now. I think they're going to be great post partum because the v-neck is stretchy enough that I will be able to just pull it down for nursing. But they don't scream "maternity" because there's no side elastic. I bought a few in different colors and these work for summer on their own, or under a cardigan in the fall/winter.

@avivoca: the Old Navys in my area are becoming comically bad. Even for regular stuff like toddler or workout clothes. They never have any sizes anymore! I do everything online, I can't be bothered with the mall/never have any time.

@psw27: I think all Target stores are lacking in maternity! It seems like everywhere is phasing it out, which is ridiculous. Only one Old Navy and one Gap in my area even sells it in store.

I would probably get shorter dresses that I could wear later on in the fall. I had good luck at Target online (our store was seriously lacking in maternity stuff) and I wore them in those awkward post baby days too.

In your situation I'd buy a bunch of nice cotton dresses that could also be worn in fall/winter with leggings. Multi-season but comfortable for the heat. I'd probably buy 2 pair of maternity shorts and a couple tank tops for the super hot days.

@Mrs. Grizzly Bear: the JCrew shorts are pull on, and the Express tops are so soft and flowy, tunic length.
If I were to do it all over again, I'd definitely invest in pieces I could wear pregnant/postpartum/after baby. I so wish LuLaRoe was around when I was pregnant/postpartum with J! :)

@Mrs. Grizzly Bear: I just wanted to chime in that I agree about maxi dresses! I think they actually are really hot and uncomfortable. (I was due September so was very pregnant summer in NYC). Also, kinda weird maybe, but my belly got itchy and I liked being able to lift my shirt and let my belly breathe a little and scratch if I had to. Haha. I hated being itchy and sweaty and having a maxi dress clinging that I couldn't lift.

I did maxi skirts a lot. They were comfy but I could still lift my shirt if I had to (just used ribbed tanks). I found the fold over ones at TJ Maxx. They always have them since they aren't actually maternity.
I also loved having denim cutoffs.
And Ann Taylor Loft has materntity online and constant sales! Great casual tanks that are a little more interesting than ribbed tanks.

It's been 2 years since I was pregnant, but DD was due in September and born in August. I hated maternity shorts (last thing I wanted was something tight on my belly when it was so hot) but I lived in knit dresses from Target - mostly midi-length but some knee length or high-low.

Something like this: http://www.target.com/p/maternity-sleeveless-placket-stripe-tie-belt-dress-macherie/-/A-50938150
or this: http://www.target.com/p/maternity-studded-trim-dress-liz-lange-for-target/-/A-16940353

Nice thing is they're so cheap, you don't feel so bad about throwing them out after pregnancy (though I wore a few of the less obviously maternity ones post-partum)

Look into LuLaRoe, (full disclosure, I do sell) but I'm seriously excited about my lula wardrobe with pregnancy. There's a bunch of skirts and the sizing is flexible (like I can wear two sizes in most items) and a lot of the material is stretchy and forgiving. I have some pictures if you want to see it as maternity wear, just let me know

@Mrs. Grizzly Bear: I understand. This is our last too, but you have to have things you can wear! I'm only buying dresses right now because that's what I wear to work in this heat, but I will probably get some tunics next month to wear over leggings both at work and after the baby comes.

Ive been able to find some good Gap sales. I have a 2-3 key business dresses from there that I love and then 2-3 more casual dresses.

A black pencil skirt has been great for mixing tops. I can usually pull off the same top for the office and for weekends.

@avivoca: Since this is our last I probably shouldn't be getting a whole lot of clothes but I am seriously running out of things to wear. The skirts I had are getting too snug. No pants in this heat. I do have pants when that time comes. The dresses I'm using have been in my closet for years with the exception of one that is maternity. But I've been wearing non maternity shirts this whole time and they're finally getting too short to cover.

@snowjewelz: I love slipping on dresses but all the maxi dresses just make me feel hotter. I don't know if it's the actual heat or if it's my body acting as an inferno.

I have stocked myself up with maxi dresses (I like the empire waist ones that I can wear when I'm done being pregnant too), t-shirts, a couple skirts, and I need to pick up a lightweight open cardigan or two.

I had to buy maternity shorts this go around. Last time I wasn't as big as fast, and I didn't have to chase around a toddler so I wore summer dresses (maternity and non-maternity) the whole time.

I am buying mainly cheap dresses because I only have 2.5 months left and it's hot as heck. But for you, I would get a bunch of shirts and some leggings. I've had luck buying non-maternity maxi dresses in a size bigger so I can wear them next summer too.

I'm seriously in need of shirts.

I'm too bloated for half my regular shirts, but not quite pregnant enough for the elastic sided maternity ones. I need more flowy tops to carry me over until I have an actual bump.

@rachiecakes: LoveHoneybee suggested LuLaRoe too and I'm curious, I admit. :) and I honestly wouldn't have thought of J Crew and Express for maternity!

I'm hooked on LuLaRoe (I don't sell it! :silly: ) I love how I could easily gain/lose 10lbs and it would still be super comfy and flattering.

I also love the shorts the J.Crew had this summer and I normally hate shorts.
And the One Eleven tshirts from Express.
