@irene: We're in the same place. Fights going to sleep (was up until after 10 last night) and then has to be dragged out of bed. I feel like we need to be putting her to bed earlier but not sure how as I work FT and solo parent until bedtime. DS is 6.5 months and is an ok sleeper. I hate that because I BF him I'm the only one who can do bedtime and I wish he would STTN but some nights we are down to only one wakeup which is good.

I have high sleep needs and my 15 month old (like my husband) does not. It's always been rough on me. We are currently transitioning to one nap and they can be anywhere from 1.5 hr broken up to +2 hours (it's rare it goes over 2). This is resulting in early bedtimes and sometimes early wake times which ends up throwing everything off. I feel like I can never get a handle on his sleep.

@irene: My 5.5 year old dd is the same way. We had so many battles over the summer with her staying up super late reading (11 pm regularly) and then not wanting to get up in the morning. Twice this week I had to force her awake at 8:15 so she would have time to get ready for school.

DD2 (25 mos),I wish she would take better naps and/or wake up later in the morning. I'm never ready to wake up at the ungodly hour she yells for me in the morning.

Oh gosh. I'd change anything that would allow me to get more than 2-3 hours per night. Total.

T is usually a good sleeper. STTN almost every night and naps fairly well. This week he's been waking up screaming at least one per night, sometimes lasting 2 hours before he goes down.

O is a terrible sleeper. Harder to put down, fights harder, wakes at least 2 times and sometimes every 30-45 min. It's like she can't settle all night. We thought she might be cold so I got a heavier sleep sack. Now I think she's mad because she can't move around as easily in the sleep sack. Last night we had a 12 year old staying with us so I gave up after an hour of fussing at midnight and brought her into our bed. She slept soundly til 7. Sadly, we can't cosleep, so we have to keep working at the crib thing.

I wish she wouldn't fight bedtime/nap time so hard. It can take forever to get her to settle down, but once she stops resisting and trying to stall she usually will fall asleep fairly quickly. Once she does fall asleep she's pretty consistent-- sleeps about 10 hours/night and 1.5-2 hr naps -- and only wakes up motn about once every 10 days, but the battles to get her to sleep are draining

Almost everything! LO (17mos) fights sleep so hard and often takes an hour or more to put down. And he's up 3 or more times almost every night. He has never STTN. The last time I slept more than 5 hours in a row was in the second trimester of pregnancy.

DS is 2.5 is really challenging in the sleep department (see my one million posts asking for sleep advice). The first thing I would change is that he wakes up every night in the middle of the night and ends up in our bed. I just want him to sttn in his own bed. He's also been taking really short naps - about an hour lately.

DS - He's a great sleeper and has been for a long time. My only complaint is that I wish he'd sleep just a little later.

DD - She's a unicorn sleeper at night and I don't want to jinx it. I'm waiting to see if it lasts through the 4 month regression. For naps she is getting a little more difficult to get down while we're at home. But she loves a good car or stroller nap.

DS is 3.5 and seems to be napping every other day. He sleeps after 8:30p on most days and wakes up after 6:15a. He only wakes up to pee in the MOTN. For the most part he goes to sleep on his own and doesn't bug us after we put him to bed.

DD has not been STTN for the past two weeks. I attribute it to a language boom, or at least I hope it is! She has random days where she STTN but most of the time she wakes up once or twice a night and stays up for an hour or two. She will cry until one of us gets her and "hangs out" with her for that hour she's awake. She was a great sleeper before that though!

DD1 I wish she would get with the no nap program. Her bedtime can be anywhere between 5:30 and 9:00. I've been retting to get her on a consistent schedule since March!

DD2 she's a dream. Great napper, easy bedtimes.

DD3 I wish she would STTN more regularly. The occasional wakeups are difficult because they always happen once I've gotten comfortable and don't expect her to wakeup. I hate going to bed late assuming she'll STTN only to be awoken a couple hours later.

I wish DS would settle easier during his MOTN wakeup. We're down to one basically, but he has to be held till he's completely out again and then you just pray the transfer goes well. It is like I have a 6 month old again.

Now that my daughter doesn't nap anymore her sleep is great. She goes down easily and sleeps well.

I wish my son could shift his wake up in the morning. He's a really early riser (4;45-5;30 ish) no matter what time he goes to bed at night. I would love a 6:30/7 wake up!

I guess it would be nice if DD can just go to sleep on her own like she does at school and not need us to stay in the room with her! And if she would want to sleep more, that'd be welcomed too. She never had high sleep needs; rarely wakes up after 7am!

I really wouldn't change much about DD's sleep. She's an awesome sleeper. But ever since transitioning to a bed, she keeps dropping her lovey overboard and starts to lose her cool in the MOTN until I come and rescue "blankie". We never had MOTN wakeups until now. I wonder if I can chain her lovey to her....

DD1 (3) has always been a rough sleeper, so I wish she would just stay in her bed all night every night. She still gets up once a night a few times a week. I'd also appreciate a later wake time but I can't complain on that front.

I wish DD2 (18 months) would drop her first nap! She is very high sleep needs and totals about 4 hours of naps everyday (broken into 2 naps) plus 12 hours over night. I like that she sleeps so well for me but I would also like to have more time with her and not have to worry about her getting too grouchy if we're out and about.

My kids are older (5 and almost 7) so we're past the sleep struggles of early childhood, so thought I would share a glimmer of hope if you're struggling right now!

Charlie can still fight sleep at night when he wants to. He could probably stay up most of the night if he really tried. But he can put himself to sleep and read books to himself until he gets sleepy so no complaints!

Olive has always had very high sleep needs, and has woken up around 9:30 since she was a baby. She used to sleep 14 hours a night and still take naps. At 5 she still has high sleep needs and if she doesn't get enough sleep, she can get very cranky!

It gets easier when they drop their naps!
