hehe I voted let him go! I see you've already made your decision. I agree with the others that said let him go and then make him let you have some free time to yourself. You totally deserve it!

I voted to let him go, my reasoning being that I'm the full-time working parent/breadwinner and DH is a student and home with DS way more than I am. We BOTH need breaks. I cherish my time with J, obviously, but there are times that I need to be able to "reset" and have a moment to myself. I've only left overnight one time for a wedding with a girlfriend, but I felt like a new woman when I got home! DH has his "dude" time as well, so I feel like it's quite even in our home.

Yeah, I say let him go, but make sure that you get a break in return. I ok'd my husband going on a business trip to florida when my daughter was 9 months old. It ended up being 8 days, and I was so furious by the end of it. Never. Again.

My DH gave me my own time yesterday, in return he's boarding today. He hasn't been in nearly a year, he's been working hard, and he is just off on a day trip. We all need to recharge our batteries, so I'm glad to hear you let him go. Now he owes you!

But even if you asked him to say, it isn't about being a "bad wife"! I voted "hellz no!" (in my mind). Taking care of 2 is HARD WORK and if you had asked him to stay, you shouldn't feel guilty about that!

I would also say yes. DH let me go on a girls trip to Chicago so I owe him a trip back. I would totally get some babysitting help for the weekend, though, so it wouldn't be that bad.

You're so sweet to let your husband go. With your LO2 so young, I think would've preferred that he come back early. But since he'll be away anyway - what's another day, right? It's awesome that you're already able handle 2 kids all by yourself. In the beginning, we hired someone to help with dinner and bedtime when my husband is away. My younger one is now much older so I don't need the extra help anymore.
Hope you get some nice pampering when he returns the favor!

My husband lets me get away with A LOT so I let him off the hook when he needs it too.
Hope your weekend goes OK! You never know, kids may decide to behave ;) But, i'd load up on Ben & Jerry's just in case; that goes without saying.

I think you are a saint for even considering letting him go. And I only have one LO.

DH and I both ski (he also snowboards). I know how easy it is to get hurt on the slopes, even when you're an expert. A family ski outing is way different from a solo guy away from the family.

@ArtBee: I think you're right - it is a mommy thing. And that's not fair . . . funny how DH used to not trust me to walk across the kitchen and without spilling, but now he is totally cool with me multi-tasking like a madwoman while holding my LO and he doesn't even bat an eye!

@MsLipGloss: I think it's a mommy thing. It's just assumed we will do things because we're the mommy.

You're the mommy, you will feed and get LO's meal ready while I sit here and eat my meal. You're the mommy, you can handle watching our 65 lb dog and toddler at this restaurant alone while I run to the store. Etc. etc. etc.

But if we're at a restaurant with the whole family including the pup and I go inside I always have to take LO. He can't be left with both of them. How is that fair?

I don't have kids yet, so that might sway my decision until I know what it's like... but I would let him go. But like others said, I would use it as a bargaining chip, and/or see if a friend or family member can come spend some time with you and the LO and stay the night to help out and have a little "girls night" or something after the LO goes to bed.

I usually let my husband go when he asks. He doesn't ask often so I try to make things work. I know If I Was smart enough to ask he would let me go do things I just never ask. Make plans for yourself like play dates or meet ups with other people so you aren't alone all the time. That's when my craziness sets in, if I can't have any grown up time for several days.

I'd make him stay. Call me a bad wife.... but why does he get to go off and have fun snow boarding while you are at home with two kids by yourself? Snowboarding isn't going to go away, it will be there next year when the kids are older and easier to take care of.

I don't know... being a SAHM I feel like DH already gets so many more breaks than I do. He gets breaks to go to the bathroom, to eat breakfast, to eat lunch, etc every day. The least DH can do is help on nights and weekends so I can pee in peace occasionally.
