@Freckles: what? U guys are going to Cuba and u still went? Ok let me rethink. Sigh

@travelgirl1: our doc probably would told us it is viral and would run its course, and just tell us to take Tylenol and Motrin to control fever...

Could you take him to the doctor to check he's okay? Then I'd still go, if his temp could be controlled by meds and he's acting okay. Such bad luck, what a shame

@irene: I hope it goes down! LO got sick 3 days before we left for Cuba and we still went. Since she was acting like her usual self we didn't think it was a big deal. As long as you're prepared for the potential, i'd probably go. Good luck!!

@looch: we r flying, and no he doesn't have ear infection Becuz he has tubes done and u will see drainage if he had an ear infection (which he doesn't)

@Freckles: he had 101.6 at 10am and I gave him some Motrin. Still haven't taken his temp again....

@T.H.O.U.: I am pretty sure it will go down....

The thing that drives me nuts is, he is all happy and functioning and playing! And we are doing lunch. Husband just texted to ask what do I want to do. Argh!!

I voted to cancel, only because I wouldn't want to be majorly disappointed if things went badly. but you will probably be ok to go as long as you prepare yourself for that possibility! I'm sorry, it sounds like you just can't get a break with all these illnesses!

Normal temperature is anywhere from 97-100. I've read that most people/kids will have an elevated temperature later in the day. If he is fine, eating well and sleeping normally, i'd probably go. Mayo Clinic says to only give tylenol/ibuprofen if it's a fever over 102.

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/healthy-baby/PR00022
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/fever/ID00052

It all depends on whether you're willing to chance having a cranky toddler on the flight to Florida. Sounds like he is back to his normal self though, but i'd bring him to the doctor just in case.

For me, it depends...I'd probably bring my son in to make sure he doesn't have an ear infection (which my son seems prone to) and if he does, he's usually better on one dose of abx.

Are you driving or flying?

I would cancel. It's much easier for me to relax and take care of LO at home. And what if you got sick because your DH was earlier?. I know I'd rather plan some fun stuff to do locally and have to cancel incase we all got sick instead of being stuck in a hotel.

LO is 19 months. What would u do if u were me??

the back story was, we came back from our long anticipated Iceland trip a month or so ago. He had hand foot and mouth disease when we were there. It was hell.

Since we didnt enjoy our big trip,we determined to go on a short trip to Tampa Florida on Labor Day weekend (this weekend). It is about 1-2 hr flight. We were not planning to do a lot, just chilling by the beach.

Husband has been sick since Monday.he even took 2 sick days off to try to get well Becuz of the trip. We were determined to go.

So yesterday I picked LO up, he was a bit fussy and cranky. A bit warm. After dinner I took his temperature. 100.2F. Husband preemptively canceled our hotel but I was very upset. I thought we could wait until today. So I called them back and they were able to uncancel. We are still going.

However, this morning LO still has 100.2 when he got up. At 10am he has 101.6. He acts normal and happy. And very active. I gave him some Motrin.

So what would u do? Would u cancel the trip for the 3 day weekend or would you still go hoping for the best?

I am just super bummed!!!! :(

ETA: canceling now will probably cost us something - we may not be able to get back our hotel fee.
