mag citrate is a pretty powerful constipation med.... it would likely clean you out and I think I'd want regular access to a bathroom :)

I know that they sometimes have you take it before the lap, I'm hoping I don't have to :/ If not, it's already in my fridge

Oh please don't take it if you have to be anywhere tomorrow !!! I have had to take it twice because of impacted bowels and it is terrible. Worst stomach cramps and constant bathroom running for 24 hrs. I felt like a dehydrated zombie afterwards !

@mrsbookworm: Thank you :)

@Silva: I'm most frustrated because the walk-in dr. was the third doctor I've seen and the third different recommended treatment, I feel like a pin ball :(

@blackbird: Yeah, totally different feeling. The only time the pain is associated with it, it is additional cramping AFTER i go. The Dr. I talked to at the OB office said it is likely there are lesions near the intestines...but unless the pain is relieved by going, there is likely no point in taking it.

@Mrs.Someone: Yeah, no constipation :)

Thanks again all!

It sounds implausible that bowel issues are the cause, unless you've already noticed being constipated... I'd skip the Mag, though when I've taken something similar it didn't affect me until the next morning.

I hope you feel better soon. Pooping always makes me feel better but it's a different pain than endo :-/

Is it possible you have lesions near your lower intestine? I had a lap probably 7 years ago and the endo had caused my bladder and bowels to stick together and it caused me a lot of discomfort until they were separated. I would take some ibuprofen too unless you are ttc

I wouldn't take it, and it would trust your regular doc over the walk in clinic doc, I'm sorry you are dealing with this, it sounds awful :(
Can you take something to help you sleep if you are having trouble? Just some Benadryl or something?

So, I was pre-diagnosed last month with Endo....lap is scheduled for May 22 to confirm and hopefully clean up lesions and scar tissue. This week, CDs 10-14, I've been in a lot of pain, not different than normal though. However last night and this morning there was some burning when I urinated, and this am I noticed some tiny specks of blood on my tp after I went to the bathroom.

I called my dr, but he was out. However, they recommended that I go to their affiliate walk-in clinic and have them do a urine test. So, I did, and it came back negative for an infection. The walk-in dr. then asked about 5 mintues worth of questions, felt my abdomen and proceeded to tell me that I probably didn't have endometriosis, it was probably just an overly full bowel. He sent me home with directions to use magnesium citrate to clear my bowels.

I was confused, frustrated and in tears so I called my ob's office back and talked to a nurse for about 10 minutes. She asked a lot of questions about my pain and then the Dr. on call returned my call. He told me it was ok to take the Magnesium Citrate if I wanted to, but he really didn't think my pain was being caused by bowel issues. However, he told me that I probably wouldn't sleep tonight if I did and I am supposed to be at a work function.

It's 6:30 here now and I need to be at a clean-up for a local fair grounds at 9 am. It will include supervising kids and raking, shoveling etc.

Anyone have experience with the magnesium citrate? What would you do? My gut tells me it is the endo....an overly full bowel wouldn't be causing my infertility....
