@gilmoregirl: Good to know!
@snowjewelz: @Mrs. Pickle: @wrkbrk: @Mrs. Sunshine: Done! I wimped out this evening after 30 minutes of fussing, comforting, more fussing, more comforting, and still no sleep. The thing is, she falls asleep INSTANTLY when I pick her up. Like, before I even get her situated in my arms she's out cold. But putting her down...that's another story. So I gave the paci back. Hopefully it'll help tonight and we won't end up on the couch at 4:30!

14 months.. I might just give it back to her. Exact same thing happened to us (coxsackie) with our 2 year old and we weaned her from paci then! But it was a golden opportunity as she was literally days from turning 2 and we needed to do it.

We just took the binky away from my 2.5 year old about 3 weeks ago and it was really pretty painless. I'd just give it to her if it helps.

@Foodnerd81: Yeah, I might. Last night she did let me put her down, and then slept 9 hours straight. After the wake up I couldn't get her back in her crib, but she's sleeping soundly next to me in bed now, so this I can handle.

@Kemma: Sadly, floor beds aren't allowed! Otherwise I'd try it for sure.

Neither of my kids ever took a paci, even though I tried so hard. But I would probably give it back. I just need sleep. And if she was sleeping well before I'd rather deal with breaking the habit later on when she's old enough to understand more, especially if she only has it for sleeping.

That said I've never had to break up with a paci and my one year old is currently using me as a pacifier as I type...

@MrsSRS: Haha! Damn. But I thought we were getting off easy with the paci weaning! You don't think she'll work it out after a few more days? Fyi, she'll be 14 months in a few days.

O had croup last week. She was up a lot at night, not sleeping well at all in her crib. We spent a lot of time with her in the bed or on the couch with us. During that time she basically stopped using her pacifier because she was so stuffed up she couldn't keep it in her mouth. I figured it was a good opportunity to wean, so I just haven't offered it again. Now she's feeling better, but is having trouble falling asleep anywhere other than my arms. Like she won't even fall asleep for DW. I don't have a problem rocking her to sleep, but she's nearly impossible to transfer. Before the croup she was going in her crib awake and would fall asleep on her own within 10-15 min with very little fussing. I did get her to do that yesterday for nap and bedtime but there was quite a bit more fussing than usual. Tonight she screamed when I put her in her crib. So here I am rocking her and writing this because I'm afraid to transfer her! This is affecting middle of the night wake ups too. She goes right back to sleep in my arms but then won't let me put her down. After two full weeks of croup with two sick babies, I really need some sleep!

So I guess my options are: tough it out and hope she figures out how to self soothe again quickly. Or give her back the pacifier now that she's not so stuffed up.
