thank you for the advice! i think i'll try to optimistic and stay with the dr, esp since it's a 50/50 shoot on if he'll even deliver~! the hospital, by far, is the number one choice and i can't give that up!

I'm in the exact same situation as you and I'm leaning towards staying purely for the reasons mentioned by @leelee

i would probably stay too. ob/gyns have to see a million patients compared to some other specialties often due to the cost of malpractice insurance being so high for their specialty. kind of sad...but i think that is why a lot of ob's are zip in/zip out.

I actually switched to a different DR at 20 weeks so that I could deliver at a better hospital. I don't like my new dr as much but am very happy to be delivering at the hospital I am at. My cousin who is a dr was telling me it was better to deliver at a hospital that you were comfortable at because the doc will litterally only be there at the end to catch the baby or do a c-section. The rest of the time it's the hospital staff that assists you.

If you end up switching I would do it soon as many doctors will only take a new patient if they are 18 weeks or below. I had two dr's declining taking me because I was too far along.

Goodluck :)
Ps. Can't wait to find out if your team blue or pink!

@Mrs. Bee: it could be or the other dr delivering, so i'm leaning towards staying... i actually switched from my old ob because of the hosp location and based on a friend's referral!

Well often times you never know which doc in your practice will deliver you. Maybe when you schedule your next appt you could request to see the other doctor (say you'd like the opportunity to meet him so you are comfortable if he ends up delivering you). Then if you like him better maybe you could switch to him? Just for convenience I probably wouldn't want to change practices at this point unless I had a major issue or felt I wasn't getting adequate care.

is he the one delivering you?

my doctor didn't deliver me for charlie or olive so i might stay because it is hard to find a doc that will take you mid pregnancy.

was he your regular ob/gyn before getting pregnant?

I don't hate my dr, but don't love him either. He's not very personable and I've only seen him a hand full of times since my checkups are monthly right now.

I love the hospital and haven't had a chance to see the other OB at the practice... I'm almost halfway; I think I'm too lazy to switch and am hoping I like him more at my next appointment.
