I don't know, I guess in her defense you are going in and out of a few houses per day and its hard to remember the instructions for each one.

Maybe type of specific notes and try a few more times.

There are little changes you can make to reduce the chances of a mistake, like making the front door autolock when closed... or disabling the garage lock entirely.

But you can't get someone to remember to close a door in the first place! Given that, I would just find someone new!

I think you have to follow your gut on this one. Is she really worth giving one more chance to? Depending on prices, availability and how she is with your dog, she might be worth keeping if she is super awesome with your pup.

She sounds dumb, lol. I'd hire someone else who is more responsible and can actually follow directions properly. It's not rocket science to leave a house the way you're supposed to!

We have a dog walker too-- he is awesome with our pooch! He's a tiny bit forgetful, if we are going away I usually tell him once in advance and then text him the day of because I'm pretty sure he'll forget. Once or twice he has lost keys--- but we've used him for 3 years and his mess-ups feel sort of endearing to us. He takes our dog to the park for hours, and we still pay the hour fee.
So-- if you love her otherwise, I say work with her. If she's meh, I say find another dog walker :)

I'd look for someone new as well. Once or twice here and there about a mistake, fine. But she seems to make the same mistakes over and over. No bueno!

I'd look for someone else. Locking you out one time is a mistake, but doing it a bunch is careless.

I agree with @Mrs. Markers. I'm not sure why she can't seem to follow your instructions and has made multiple mistakes (?!?!?) even after you've talked to her about it.

in my opinion... it's a pretty simple job, you can probably find someone that you can trust to do it without locking you out. i'd say find a new dog walker.

We have a dog walker who comes and walks our dogs during lunchtime. We pay $15 a day for the walk. Lately we have been having issues though, she has locked the garage door three times and as a result I was locked out of the house with a 6 month old while I waited for DH to come home. (We don't lock garage door). She has left the front door unlocked twice and yesterday she forgot to close the garage door but reset the alarm. This meant the police came to our house. DH was furious. I'm willing to overlook everything and ask her to be more diligent, we talked to her about the previous incidents so she wouldn't be surprised if we didn't retain her services. DH wanted to fire her. What would you do?
