I agree with the others, I wouldn't bother with a bottle, I'd just offer a sippy with expressed milk in it. Either she will take it or refuse, and if she refuses she will probably make up the calories by eating more solids while you're gone.

Enjoy your trip and don't stress about it!! She will survive.

Yup, I would leave lots of clean straw cups, binkies (if she takes them) and lots of breastmilk for Grandma. That is a short enough time for Grandma to deal with a fussy baby and it will probably help night weaning anyway. Just have your mom keep offering milk in a sippy all day while she plays or whatever so that she will get the calories and hydration she needs, in addition to water. She'll live.

I would try a straw cup (or a sippy if that's what she'll take). My LO never took a bottle either but will take milk in a straw cup.

Oh, I would Prob leave her milk in a straw or sippy cup. My LO refused bottles after 10.5 months and would only nurse or drink from a straw cup.

Good luck! I think she should eat for your mom when she gets hungry. Fx for you guys.

Next month, DH and I are going on a two night getaway for our anniversary. It's a much needed trip because it's been a crazy year and we're SO looking forward to relaxing and rescheduling it isn't really a possibility because we're wanting to enjoy the nice weather and a nearby lake for some swimming and sunshine -- otherwise I'd put this trip off a bit into the fall or whenever DD decides to self wean.

That said, DD will be a year in a week. We've always had a GREAT breastfeeding relationship and I love nursing her. The thought of weaning right now about brings me to tears - I'm just so not ready for it! (Unless she chooses.)

That said, I'm so unsure what to do for our trip. She still nurses 2-3x a day, and at night. (Although we're going to night wean this weekend and beyond until she gets it because I am so tired of getting up 3-4x a night just to nurse!) She refuses bottles.

She'll be staying with my mom while we're gone who she adores but I'm just not sure how to set her up for success while we're away. I obviously can't just leave her without nursing cold turkey and I really doubt she'll start to take bottles as a one year old.

What would you do in this situation? I'm envisioning this being a nightmare for my mom -- and for her. Lots of tears and frustration because she can't "nuh nuh" as she calls it. Do you think if I pumped in advance and left her with sippy cups of milk that would take the place? I am willing to do that. She loves sippy cups of water so I'm sure she'd take breast milk - it just wouldn't be as cuddly of an experience for her.

Anyways -- looking for thoughts! This is really stressing me out, but as I said, the trip is non-negotiable in my DH's eyes and I'm really looking forward to a few days rest anyways. I just feel so bad to leave DD like that in a bit of a lurch. TIA. :)
