Poor girl! Mine also had a fever all weekend. Hers was at 104 this morning, but cooled down and has been okay. DH and I are staying home tomorrow (i'm working from home) because we'd rather have her be home that extra day just in case.

@T.H.O.U.: no meds after 8am. We gave her some after she had been up for a couple hours and was still hot.

@locavore_mama: cough, too but th the mostly shows up at night. Slightly runny nose but nothing crazy.

It would be awesome to call out sick the day after a holiday weekend. :-\

I tend to follow the 24 hour rule. I also like to keep my daughter home an extra day just to make sure she's not too miserable at daycare after battling a fever, so I probably wouldn't send her.

If the fever has been gone since nap time today, I would send her. We tend to be a little loose with the 24-hour rule in this type of situation...

For me, I usually keep my son home for another day just to make sure he's feeling 100%. Yes, I go beyond the 24 hour rule. I would just hate it if he gave other kids the same thing and then it came back to him again. Another reason is if he spikes a fever again (which it has happened to us) it would have been two unnecessary trips with a toddler and an infant. Hope she feels better soon!

If the fever is really gone like @T.H.O.U.: said, and stays gone through the night & into the morning, I'd send her. Ideally, my husband would take a half day to reach that 24 hour mark, but if he couldn't I wouldn't feel bad about sending my kid in this situation.

I'd probably not send her. I know it's difficult and would probably be ok, but I would hope all parents would follow the same rules...

Did you give any meds in the latter half of the day? What was her highest temp after lunch?

If it naturally broke at lunch today and she has stayed cool without meds through tomorrow morning then I would send her.

Let's say your child has been sick for the entire holiday weekend. She had a fever of up to 102 until noon today when she took her nap, but cooled off during said nap. She still appears to be feeling better, eating again and is less clingy. Daycare has a 24 hours without a fever rule.

Would you send her to daycare tomorrow at 7am?
