If you want to do breakfast like food, I highly recommend Wolferman's bakery. My family sends them for a ton of occasions (and my mom usually splurges on their English muffins for Christmas. they're SO GOOD!)

Or maybe an edible arrangement. I like how the fruit is already ripe and cut up and easy to eat unlike a more traditional fruit basket.

If you know what pharmacy like stores are closest to her house, maybe send a gift card to there. Just in case they have to schlep out in the middle of the night or at the last minute for diapers or other supplies.

I am in a similar situation and am planning on sending pears from Harry & David and maybe having a chicken pot pie delivered too. If I was a good baker, I would consider making cookies and mailing them. I also sent some seasonal clothes for the baby (fall onesies, sleepers, and Christmas ones too) since her first LO was born in a different season. I am planning on sending something for her first child too but haven't figured that out yet.

@gilmoregirl: I think a gift for her older child is a great idea, plus maybe a gift card for take out? You obviously can't send your own food but not having to worry about dinner was always a great plus in the early days. Especially if you know what is nearby her and what she might like.

My friend just had a baby (her 2nd) and lives 9-10 hours away from me, so I don't know if/when I'll be able to go visit.

I'd normally bring over food and a small gift, so I want to find some fun ideas that I can send through the mail. I'm thinking a little gift for her older LO, some shelf stable breakfast foods/snacks, ...

What would you include in a new baby care package?
