I got my hubby "Dude your going to be a Dad" its not super long- and I have been sneaking into it to read it a bit- its acutally pretty funny!!
My husband is not a big reader, so the fact that I gave it to him on Saturday and he is 1/3 of the way done- means he is at least enjoying it!

I've read lots of reviews about "Be Prepared" and I think that is the one I will probably end up getting for my husband when we conceive.

How do people feel about "The Expectant Father"?

My husband isn't a big reader, but he liked the Happiest Baby on the Block video (warning- it's pretty low production value!) so he could actually see how to soothe the baby.

I'm a fan of "Be Prepared A practical handbook for New Dads" by Gary Greenberg and Jeannie Hayden.

It's got humor, but most of it is practical information. It has sections on the first week, 0-3 months, 4-6 months, 7-9 months and then 10-12 months. I like that it gives ideas for the Dad on how to play with the baby to encourage bonding. It also gives lots of good tips for nervous Dad's like when bathing, baby can be slippery, try wearing a sock on your hand to better grip them if you are worried about dropping them. I feel like this book had more practical applications than other Daddy books we got.

DH is reading Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way and The Birth Partner. Obviously those are more about birth than pregnancy, but they extensively discuss supporting/comforting/encouraging the pregnant partner, which is what I need from DH the most! He seems to like the fact that those books give him a more tangible role, with concrete skills to work on.

If I want him to have technical pregnancy info I just tell him, haha. It's much faster than trying to convince him to read a book on development!

My DH wasn't interested in reading books, so I would send him e-mail updates and articles I thought were important. The only thing he did read was Happiest Baby on the Block, and he became a master at the 5 S's

I want to buy a good book for my husband that is the man's version of what to expect when your expecting. But not that one. My brother gave us some men's books and my husband said they are douchey. One of them is a comic book... Any suggestions? What books have you tried & been successful with or not so successful with. Lol I'm sure there are some good stories.
