Our LO sleeps just in jammies. I think most LOs do fine without anything as long as they are dressed warmly enough. I don't think you need to buy anything fancy!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I'm looking into ordering a A&A sleep sacks because it looks lightweight. DS just got his 4 month vaccinations yesterday and I don't want to transition him while he's still a bit fussy so I'll start the transition this weekend. Wish us luck.

We just went to a regular sleep sack (Halo). I'm in a warm climate too, so on warmer nights we will just put LO in a diaper and the sleep sack. Sometimes we put a t-shirt on underneath.

I definitely wouldn't buy the next size up of Merlin because the chances of him rolling over it soon are pretty high. We just quit the sleepsuit cold turkey and he sleeps in PJ's. Luckily the transition wasn't that bad (he used his pacifier the first few weeks to fall asleep, but we've since gotten rid of that as well)

We went to a sleep sack next. For warm weather, I tried to find lightweight ones and with just a short sleeved onesie underneath. That being said, she didn't do well without the swaddle or merlin at first. We needed to sleep train around the time we transitioned her.

What sleep sacks do you guys recommend? And does he wear a onsie underneath it or a footed PJ?
We live in Los Angeles and it's been extremely hot, it'll be in the high90s-low100s this weekend.

We switched to regular sleep sacks after LO started rolling over in the Merlin. I was scared of the transition, and it might have been not-so-hot for a few nights, but it went ok!

Nothing! I literally had DD in it till she was 7+ months... Then we just went cold turkey! Now that the weather is cooler, I have her in fleece sleeper, and eventually cotton sleeper with fleece sleep sack.

Our DD is going to outgrow the size Small Merlin suit as well, and we're trying to make the decision whether to get the next size up. I'm not into paying retail for anything baby-related so I'll probably only go for it if I can find it secondhand or on Buy Nothing. The other next step would be to use an appropriately sized sleep sack (like the Halo), though that costs money as well if you don't get one secondhand. You can try just dressing your LO in a warm footed onesie and see if he's okay sleeping freestyle like that.

My DS has been wearing a size Small Merlin magic sleep suit for about 2 months now but he's close to outgrowing it. Plus, he's also started rolling over during tummy time, but not at night when wearing the sleep suit.
Do I buy the next size up sleep suit? If not, what is the next step in sleep wear? Thanks.
