We went for 7.5 weeks and tried to never drive longer than 4h. There was maybe two or three days were we went longer. Since we're not camping people we went to hotels and just had a travelcrib for LO. It was awesome. Both of us would do it again in a heartbeat! Spending an hour sitting within such a short distance of such incredible creatures was unforgettable.</p> <p>But independent travel in those countries is so stressful (I spent 8 hours in the back of a pickup truck in order to get to the National Park), it wasn't relaxing at all! DH and I took a trip to Vermont last year that ranks among my most treasured memories. Not really exotic or foreign, but we spent a week kayaking, visiting craft breweries and walking along beautiful small towns... Iceland's scenery was just breathtaking. Scuba diving at the Great Barrier Reef. Glacier hiking in New Zealand. Seeing the temples of Angkor Wat.
