@Foodnerd81: daycare has never complained that it leaked and LO would definitely let me know if his foods touched. It's fantastic!

@Pollywog: the yogurt doesn’t leak or deep into the other compartments? I was wondering about that because her lunchbox is usually standing up, so the bento box is on its side basically. I worried the yogurt would still leak.

Tomorrow’s lunch for my 5 year old. Apple slices, rolled up Swiss, wheat thins, and a mix of cashews, raisins, and Cheerios. She used to like this Trader Joe’s trail mix I got but she’s started picking out more and more parts that she doesn’t like (she would come home with the almonds and pistachios, so like half the mix).

First year I'm packing lunch for DS1 in kindergarten. He usually gets one of two lunches:

#1 - 2 hard boiled egg whites, a muffin, string cheese, fruit (usually strawberries) and veggie (usually frozen green beans or zucchini that thaws by lunchtime)

#2 - 1/2 sandwich, same fruit and veggie as above and usually a yogurt drink

snacks are usually any combo of: goldfish, pretzels, fruit strip, apple slices, green peppers, carrots, granola bar, essentially anything that doesn't need to be kept cold as he eats it in the afternoon

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I always make extra dinner and pack their lunch the same time I plate dinner. So this was last nights dinner, which is also today’s lunch. I use silicone cupcake liners in an insulated lunch bowl to seperate gooey foods from dry foods. It’s just risotto, baked “fried” chicken, and sautéed green beans. Easy-peasy.

No pictures, but today DD1 also has chicken tenders (left over from dinner the other night - cooked in air fryer) and CFA sauce today  along with leftover brussel sprouts & mushrooms. Orange slices for morning snack - daycare provides the after school snack.

Her usual lunch varies between deli meat with cheese chunks and veggies (she loves the frozen mixed veggies and/or edamame), a hummus wrap with whatever veggies I have in the fridge, or leftovers from dinner if it's something easy to pack/eat. I sent her Chobani yogurt for her main 2x last week and she seemed to really like that as well (mixed berry and strawberry banana).

My kids do not care for variety for lunches haha. Every time we tried to do new/fancy things, it backfires! They are 4 and 2 and we've always had to pack lunch. Cheese sandwich, chicken nuggets and fruit are staples. The older one sometimes likes getting mac&cheese and pasta, while the little one likes shumai's.

I don't have pictures, but today the kids have butternut risotto (aka yellow cheesy rice), peas, and blueberries. The 3 year old also has yogurt and chocolate chips. He gets a PB&J bar and yogurt for snack. The 11 month old has 3 bottles for his "snacks"

Today my 5 year old requested cereal, so she has a thermos with cold milk and a baggie with frosted mini wheats and Cheerios, plus a sliced apple. School provides morning snack, which is usually not terribly healthy.

I often do a version of a lunchable- rolled up Swiss cheese, nuts, craisins, crackers... she finally started liking when I send things warm in the thermos too- either tortellini or Mac and cheese. She’s been off sandwiches which makes it harder. Lucky for me they have no nut allergies in the class or restrictions on food you send in since nuts are her primary source of protein.

@skinnycow: it’s a knock off that totally fooled my son. I was searching for where to buy CFA sauce in a grocery store so I could stop hitting up CFA myself since LO happily eats CFA sauce on anything. Anyway, this Walmart bottle kept popping up and sure enough after a few reviews and even a Today.com feature I was convinced this was what I needed to buy.

No pictures, but today in his lunch B has DIY lunchables (cubes of havarti, slices of pepperoni, wheat thins, and saltines), strawberries, cucumbers stuffed with cream cheese (hollow a chunk of cucumber with an apple corer, fill the hole with cream cheese, and slice it), and some froot loops. For snack he has grapes and a cookie in the afternoon, Made Good granola bites and apple slices in the morning.

His favourite lunches are either chicken nuggets with ketchup for dipping or macaroni and cheese, but I've been trying to mix it up.

I haven’t got any pictures but each day my kids (six and four) get a sandwich of their choosing, a pottle of homemade yoghurt, a small container of crackers and savoury snacks, a sweet item (biscuit / muffin / cupcake etc) and a piece of fruit. They get roughly the same stuff every day but I change up the snacks / fruit / sandwiches so they still get a good variety of stuff.

It’s been about a month since I started packing LO’s school lunch at his new daycare and so far it’s been great. There’s been some tweaks to quantity and what I send. Unless he starts complaining I think I have a winning formula. He eats three meals at daycare AM snack, Lunch, PM snack. The teachers told me pretty early on he wasn’t a fan of the provided PM snack. What I send in his lunch gets split for lunch and PM snack.

I pack two Polly-O cheese sticks (that he now realizes are super fun to pull apart and eat), goldfish, string beans (this gets rotated between peas and cherry tomatoes), assorted berries (black, blue, strawberries and raspberries), chick’n tenders (these get baked every morning) and CF’A sauce (LO chooses which color lid- there’s four total), and his favorite Craisins.

What did you pack this week for lunch? What’s your kiddo’s favorite food you send?
