@knittylady: sleep has been hell here too. We got the Merlin suit a week or so ago. First two nights were magical. Like 6-7 hour sleep stretches. Since then she's back to old habits. But I'm keeping her in the suit. She was breaking out of the miracle blanket way too easily (it worked so much better with DD1!) and at least I have piece of mind that she won't suffocate herself in the Merlin suit. Good luck!

@blackbird: We have the merlin sleep suit! Do you think I should try that for naps leading up to tonight? I'm sort of scared that if sleep doesn't get better tonight I'll run screaming for the hills. Literally.

That sounds like our first night swaddle weaning. She still had that startle reflex so she woke up a lot until she got used to it. We used the merlin magic sleep suit to bridge that gap. Once she rolled in it, we went cold turkey sleep training. It took a week to set in

First time we tried to swaddle wean was into a (homemade) zipadeezip. It was about the same as yours. I rocked her to sleep and she slept like an hour then was up every 30-45 min all night long. Much coffee was needed and we went back to the swaddle. (this was like 4ish months)

The next time had to work bc she had learned to roll in her swaddle. (right about 5 months). Night 1 we were unprepared and put her in the zipadeezip and it was the same thing. But I was expecting that so that day I had ordered a merlin suit with overnight shipping and it came the next day. So night 2 we used a merlin suit and it went MUCH better. Was still a little harder rocking her to sleep but once she went down she woke up maybe 5 or 6 times overnight. Within 3 days she was back to her norm (waking up 2-3 times overnight).

Last night we did our first night in the sleep sack. LO2 decided yesterday morning that he suddenly hated being swaddled - which I was happy about as he's 4 months old, and it feels like a prerequisite for sleep training. (Sleep has been god awful since Christmas. I'm talking every 20 minutes to an hour)

So last night started sort of ok. He refused the rock-n-play, which I was ALSO happy about since we're trying to move toward the crib during all of this as well. He slept great for about 45 minutes in bed with me on his side. But from there on out he was up probably every 20-40 minutes throughout the night. It didn't even seem like it was his arms waking him up all the time.... I don't know what's going on.

How bad was your first night with an unswaddled LO? Does this seem normal and we should just stay consistent and get through the next few days? Or does this sound like a baby who can't connect his sleep cycles and needs some sleep training?

Help!!!
